New Dodge Charger Arrives in the UK from £70,000 with 550hp Scat Pack Option

  • Unity Automotive in Oxford has been appointed the first UK retailer for the new-generation Dodge Charger, with orders open now for both power outputs.
  • The two-door Sixpack range starts at £70,000 for the 420hp R/T and rises to £76,000 for the 550hp Scat Pack.
  • Both cars swap the old HEMI V8 for a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine, and the Scat Pack hits 60mph in 3.9 seconds.

A V8 icon switches to a turbo six, and Britain gets first dibs

The Dodge Charger name has spent six decades tied to a V8 rumble, so the announcement that the new model drops the HEMI in favour of a twin-turbo straight-six could easily have gone down badly with British muscle car buyers. Instead, Unity Automotive in Oxford says demand for the car is strong enough that it has taken on an official Dodge and RAM franchise to bring the eighth-generation Charger to UK customers for the first time.

Orders for the two-door Sixpack range are open now at Unity Oxford, with right-hand drive not on offer. Every Charger sold in the UK will be left-hand drive, sourced through KWA, the official European importer for Dodge and RAM, and built on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform shared with other large rear- and all-wheel-drive Stellantis models.

UK pricing: £70,000 for the R/T, £76,000 for the Scat Pack

Unity Oxford has published two price points for the two-door Sixpack. The 420hp R/T starts at £70,000, and the 550hp Scat Pack starts at £76,000. Both figures sit well above where a HEMI-powered Charger or Challenger landed in the United States, a gap that reflects import costs, left-hand-drive-only availability and the low volumes involved in bringing an American muscle car to a market Dodge has never officially sold in before.

For context, a Ford Mustang GT in the UK starts closer to £50,000, and a BMW M2 sits in similar territory to the Charger R/T. Buyers choosing the Dodge over those rivals are paying a premium for scarcity and for a nameplate that has never had an official UK importer before now. Unity says customers can view the car, drive it and specify their own configuration through what it calls a dedicated American-car team at the Oxford dealership.

What the Hurricane six changes

The engine swap is the biggest technical change buyers need to understand before they order. The old 5.7-litre and 6.4-litre HEMI V8s are gone, replaced across the board by Stellantis’ 3.0-litre Hurricane twin-turbo straight-six.

In R/T form, the Hurricane produces 420hp and 468 lb-ft of torque, enough for 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and a quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds. Dodge quotes that as 50hp and 73 lb-ft more than the old 5.7-litre HEMI R/T managed, and half a second quicker to 60mph.

Step up to the Scat Pack and the high-output version of the same engine makes 550hp and 531 lb-ft, cutting the 0-60mph time to 3.9 seconds with a 12.2-second quarter-mile. Dodge puts that at 65hp and 56 lb-ft ahead of the previous 6.4-litre HEMI Scat Pack. Both cars send power through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and standard all-wheel drive, though drivers can switch to a rear-wheel-drive-only mode that puts all the torque through the back axle.

Drive modes, brakes and the return of Line Lock

Drivers get five main modes: Auto, Eco, Wet/Snow, Sport and Custom. Sport sharpens the gearbox, steering and throttle response and opens the active exhaust valves. The Scat Pack adds Launch Control on top of that, along with six-piston front Brembo brake calipers that the R/T does not get as standard.

Line Lock, the drag-strip feature that locks the front brakes so a driver can spin the rear tyres to warm them before a launch, comes standard on the Scat Pack and can be added to the R/T through an optional Performance Handling Group. Suspension is multi-link at the front and independent integral-link at the rear, with adaptive damping fitted to both trims.

Four-door and electric versions are coming, but not yet priced

Unity Oxford says it will also take special orders for the four-door Sixpack and for the Daytona EV version of the Charger, built to a customer’s own specification, though neither has UK pricing yet. The Daytona EV is Dodge’s electric Charger, sold in North America with a synthetic exhaust note called the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust designed to replicate the sound of a combustion engine. Whether that car reaches UK roads in meaningful numbers will depend on how the two-door Sixpack sells first.

Unity Automotive already holds Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Fiat, Jeep, MG, Subaru and Isuzu franchises across Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and Leicestershire, giving it an existing dealer network to lean on for parts and servicing as the first Chargers reach UK driveways. Buyers wanting to be among the first UK owners, or to place a factory order for a different specification, need to contact Unity Oxford directly, with viewing and order allocations described as available imminently.
