Editorial Policy
Motoring Chronicle reports on car news, driving law, motoring costs, electric vehicles, car maintenance and motorsport for drivers in the UK and the US. UK and US stories sit in their own labelled sections, UK News and US News. This page explains the standards behind what we publish.
How we source our stories
Every article is built from named, publicly available sources: official bodies and datasets such as the DVLA, the DVSA, the Department for Transport, the Office for National Statistics and the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, announcements from companies and organisations, and reporting by other publishers. Where a figure comes from a particular body or dataset, we name that body in the article.
Figures and dates
- Figures, dates and prices are checked against the source material before an article is published.
- Legal and regulatory changes are described as the source describes them. A government consultation is not reported as a new law.
- Where we publish our own analysis, for example our analysis of DVSA MOT records, we explain how it was done and where the data comes from.
