Geely Monjaro and Emgrand L Hybrids Tour Australia From 9 November
- Geely opens a national dealer roadshow on Monday 9 November 2026 at Geely Deer Park in Victoria, with preproduction examples of the Monjaro EM-i and Emgrand L EM-i, an SUV and a sedan.
- Both plug-in hybrids reach showrooms in the first quarter of 2027, and Geely has announced no price for either.
- Pre-orders to 31 December 2026 carry a 7 kW home charger and a premium paint upgrade valued at $600, and the charger is hardware only.
A Free Geely Charger Still Leaves You Paying the Electrician
Geely will put preproduction examples of its two newest plug-in hybrids in front of buyers from Monday 9 November 2026. The Monjaro EM-i is an SUV with five seats and the Emgrand L EM-i is a sedan. Geely Deer Park in Victoria hosts the opening stop. The tour then works through the ACT, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland, and it ends in January 2027.
Both cars arrive in the first quarter of 2027. Geely has published no price, no trim list and no drive-away figure for either one, so the only dollar amount on the table is the $600 value Geely puts on the premium paint upgrade in its pre-order offer. The offer also includes a 7 kW home charger. Geely supplies the box and nothing else: the electrician, switchboard work and approvals are the buyer’s bill.

Where and When to See Them
The tour is the first national outing for either model. Sydney’s Everything Electric show hosted the Australian debut of the Monjaro EM-i in September. The Emgrand L EM-i had its first local showing at the Melbourne Motor Show in April. Geely confirmed both cars for Australia in September.
The full dated schedule sits on the Geely Auto Australia website. Check the date for your state before you plan a trip: the tour visits six regions in turn across about three months. Treat what you see as a preview. Geely’s own model page carries the line “Overseas model shown. Local specification may vary.” and the tour cars are preproduction, so final details can differ from what stands in the showroom.
The Two Plug-In Hybrids on Tour
The Monjaro EM-i takes its name from Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. Geely builds it on its GEA EVO platform, which the brand calls its Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture, and fits Continuously Controlled Damping suspension with a chassis tuned by Geely Technology Europe. Geely says the SUV holds a Guinness World Records title for “Fastest crossing of the Black and White Desert (Sahara) by a plug-in hybrid powered production SUV”. Geely says the crossing doubled as a five-part test that covered handling, back-to-back steep climbs, cross-axle recovery, ride comfort and acceleration with the battery run down.
For range, Geely quotes up to 170 km of pure electric driving and up to 1137 km combined, both on the WLTP test. The brand’s footnote says the figures are for comparing vehicles with each other and that real-world results vary with driving style, road, traffic and conditions. Geely lists the Starray EM-i, already on sale, at up to 136 km of pure electric range, so the maker’s figure for the Monjaro is 34 km higher (170 km minus 136 km).
The Emgrand L EM-i is Geely’s first global plug-in hybrid sedan and uses the same EM-i technology as the Starray EM-i. A 1.5 L naturally aspirated engine works with an 11-in-1 electric drive unit, and Geely says the pair delivers more than 1,000 km of driving range, with fully electric, hybrid and engine-first modes. Geely says the electric unit does most of the work of turning the wheels, so acceleration stays smooth even with a low battery. The boot holds 528 L. The pages checked carry no ANCAP rating and no local specification sheet for either car.

What the Pre-Order Offer Covers, and What It Does Not
Both models qualify for a 7 kW home charger and one premium paint upgrade valued at $600. Monjaro EM-i buyers pick from Sunlight Gold, Sky Blue, Night Black or Lunar Grey. Emgrand L EM-i buyers pick from Cloudveil Silver, Polar Black, Volcanic Grey or Glacier Blue. Monjaro AWD buyers also receive a suede-like upholstery upgrade.
The terms published for the Monjaro EM-i set the limits. Geely gives the offer end as 31 December 2026, and the terms count valid orders from 18 September 2026 through 31 December 2026, placed online with Geely or at an authorised dealer.
- The charger is a single-phase AC wall unit, hardware only. The customer pays for fitting, wiring, any switchboard upgrade, permits and network approvals, and a licensed electrician must do the job.
- Geely picks the charger brand and model from its suppliers, and delivery of the unit depends on stock.
- In South Australia, network rules can limit or block installation of the supplied charger. Geely can then choose to offer a different charger or another benefit worth about the same at retail.
- Cloud White is the standard Monjaro colour at no extra cost, and choosing it earns no rebate or substitute. The suede-like trim applies to the AWD variant only, and no cash is paid if a colour or trim is unavailable at production.
- Fleet, government and rental buyers are excluded. Each vehicle order gets one set of benefits. The set stays with the allocated car unless Geely approves a move in writing, and it does not stack with other promotions unless Geely says so.
- The offer ends if the order is cancelled or the purchase falls through. It does not promise priority delivery, and Geely can change, extend or withdraw it, subject to law, without touching customers who have already ordered.
Those conditions are the ones Geely published for the Monjaro EM-i. Terms for the Emgrand L EM-i did not appear on the pages checked, so get written confirmation that the same conditions apply before you rely on them.
What Geely Has Not Said Yet
Price is the gap. Without a price, a $600 paint upgrade and a charger of unstated value cannot be set against a rival’s drive-away deal. The same goes for delivery: Geely’s terms say the offer does not guarantee delivery by a particular date.
Ownership cover is the second gap. Geely’s ownership program lists a 7-year vehicle warranty and an 8-year high-voltage battery warranty for private owners, both with no kilometre limit, but the pages checked do not say whether the two new plug-in hybrids carry those terms. Geely’s current finance deal, a 0.68 percent comparison rate with $0 deposit over 36 months, plus 1,000 kWh of public charging credit with a trade-in, ends 30 November 2026 and covers the EX5, EX2 and Starray EM-i, not these two models.
The deposit protects you in the meantime. Geely’s terms say you can get the online deposit back in full until you sign a binding purchase contract with an authorised dealer, and that a deposit does not secure final pricing, specifications or a delivery date. Refund requests go through the dealership you nominated.
What to Do Before You Pay a Deposit
Look at the roadshow schedule on the Geely Auto Australia website and pick the stop nearest you. Ask the dealer for the drive-away price in writing as soon as one exists, and ask whether the Emgrand L EM-i carries the same offer conditions as the Monjaro EM-i. Phone a licensed electrician now: they can tell you whether your switchboard handles a 7 kW single-phase charger, and a guide on how to calculate home charging costs shows how to price the electricity once it is installed.
If neither plug-in hybrid is your pick, the Geely EX2 review covers the brand’s smallest electric car.
Before any Chinese-brand purchase, read how Chinese cars won UK sales and what buyers there learned to ask. Keep the deposit refundable until the price, the specification and the warranty are on paper.
