Electrify America announced a $7.4+ million investment in organizations across the U.S. to support zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) access programs, education, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) workforce development. This funding builds on Electrify America’s previous investments in organizations, emphasizing the commitment to fostering equitable access to electric vehicle (EV) transportation in low-income and disadvantaged communities and building a skilled EV workforce.

Electrify America’s latest funding will support a diverse group of organizations across the U.S.:

  • Breathe Southern California
  • Charge Across Town
  • Ecology Action
  • Edtunity Institute
  • Drive Electric Long Island
  • Ignited
  • Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator
  • New York Power Authority
  • Plug In America
  • Tennessee Clean Fuels
  • Valley Clean Air Now

“Electrify America is committed to providing access to zero-emission vehicles while building a skilled workforce to support expanding EV infrastructure,” said Robert Barrosa, president and CEO of Electrify America. “By supporting education and hands-on training, we’re creating opportunities for individuals to thrive in the growing domestic EV industry  and drive the transition to electric transportation.”

Electrify America recognizes the need for a skilled workforce to sustain the growing EV industry — including engineers, software developers, battery technicians, energy managers, and construction specialists. The programs aim to help increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of ZEVs, create pathways to ZEV-specific STEM careers, and support EV industry growth through hands-on activities like EV ride-and-drive events, educational resources focused on the EV industry, and on-the-job training, benefiting K-12 students, community college students, and workers through vocational and EV workforce development opportunities.

“Electrify America’s brand neutral ZEV investments reflect the company’s goal to support a more equitable transition to EVs through collaborating with organizations that understand the unique needs of their communities,” said Misti Murphey, director of marketing and communications at Electrify America, “Lessons from previous investments have shaped this year’s award process, which focuses on outcomes, impact, and reach.”

Since 2018, Electrify America has worked closely with organizations across the U.S. to deliver tangible benefits to communities, from improving air quality to reducing barriers to ZEV adoption. Previous programs have significantly increased ZEV awareness and adoption rates, bringing EV transportation options to underserved areas.
