Toyota has released pricing for the 2027 bZ, its electric SUV, with the lineup starting at $34,980 for the XLE front-wheel-drive model before dealer fees. The bZ carries over largely unchanged for its fifth model year, offered in XLE and Limited grades with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive.

Range varies by battery and drivetrain combination. The XLE FWD Plus, fitted with the larger 74.7-kWh battery, delivers a manufacturer-estimated 314 miles, the longest figure in the lineup. The base XLE FWD with a smaller 57.7-kWh battery is rated at 236 miles. All-wheel-drive models land in between, with the Limited AWD rated at 299 miles and the XLE AWD at 288 miles.

Horsepower splits along similar lines. Front-wheel-drive models produce either 165 or 221 total system horsepower depending on grade, while all-wheel-drive versions reach up to 338 total system horsepower, a meaningful jump for buyers who want quicker acceleration alongside the extra traction.

Charging: What’s Changed

Every 2027 bZ comes with a North American Charging System (NACS) port built in, giving owners access to most DC fast chargers in the US without an adapter, including Tesla’s Supercharger network. Under ideal conditions, DC fast charging takes the battery from 10% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes.

Toyota also includes battery preconditioning, which warms or cools the pack ahead of a planned fast-charging stop to help keep charging speeds consistent in hot or cold weather. Each bZ also ships with a standard adapter for J1772 and CCS stations, plus a dual-voltage cable for Level 1 and Level 2 home charging.

What’s Inside

Every grade gets a 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless phone charging, and interior ambient lighting with 64 available colors. Heated front seats and dual-zone climate control are standard on the XLE.

Move up to Limited and the bZ adds 20-inch wheels, a panoramic fixed-glass moonroof, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a digital rearview mirror. Front radiant foot-and-leg heaters, a detail more often found in luxury vehicles, are also standard on Limited trim. Buyers who want a premium sound system can add a nine-speaker JBL setup with subwoofer as an option on Limited models.

Cargo space runs to 27.7 cubic feet behind the second row, expanding to 56.9 cubic feet with the second row folded, numbers that put the bZ in line with compact-to-midsize gas SUVs rather than at a disadvantage for carrying cargo.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard across the lineup, bundling pre-collision detection with pedestrian recognition, full-speed adaptive radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, road sign assist, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard.

Limited grade models add Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist, front cross-traffic alert, and a panoramic view monitor with perimeter scan, features that lean on the additional sensors and cameras included at that trim level.

Warranty and Ownership Costs

Toyota backs the bZ with its standard 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty, a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, and an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery and electric drive components. ToyotaCare covers scheduled maintenance for one year or 10,000 miles, and roadside assistance runs for three years regardless of mileage.

The 2027 bZ also includes five-year trials of Toyota’s Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote Connect services, plus a 30-day, 3GB Wi-Fi Connect trial. Owners can check charging status, locate nearby stations, and manage remote functions through the Toyota app once a Remote Connect subscription is active.

Where It Fits

At $34,980 to start, the bZ competes directly with the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volkswagen ID.4 in the compact electric SUV class. The 314-mile range on the top trim keeps it competitive on paper, though buyers should note that figure applies only to the FWD Plus configuration with the larger battery, not the base model.
