  • Every GT gets a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, an 81.4kWh battery and a six-speed Virtual Gear Shift system that mimics the feel of changing gear in a petrol car.

Three electric Kias just got a lot more exciting to drive

Kia has priced its new GT trio for the UK, bringing a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive performance option to three of its most popular electric models. The EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT went on sale on 1 October, with customer deliveries due before the end of the year.

Prices start at £48,695 on the road for the EV3 GT, rising to £49,345 for the EV4 GT hot hatchback and £54,295 for the larger EV5 GT SUV. Each model is sold in a single, fully loaded trim, so the only decision buyers face is paint colour. Standard white costs nothing extra; most other colours add £650, with Lithium Silver Matt priced at an additional £1,500 on the EV3 and EV5.

What every GT shares: 81.4kWh battery and fake gears

All three models share the same underpinnings: an 81.4kWh battery, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain and Kia’s six-speed Virtual Gear Shift system, first seen on the EV6 GT. Operated through the steering wheel paddles, it simulates the feel of a six-speed gearbox, complete with synthetic engine sound through Active Sound Design and a brief cut in power when the car reaches a simulated “redline.” Drivers can also hold a gear through a corner or use the paddles for stronger regenerative braking when slowing down.

Each GT also gets launch control, a built-in performance timer, electronically controlled suspension with a road-preview camera system, and Kia’s Electronic Dynamic Torque Vectoring, which shifts power between wheels to sharpen cornering. Neon green brake callipers, GT-specific alloy wheels and semi-bucket sports seats mark each car out from the standard EV3, EV4 and EV5.

EV4 GT: Kia’s quickest hatchback

The EV4 GT turns Kia’s C-segment family hatchback into the brand’s fastest-accelerating hatch, reaching 62mph in 5.6 seconds and 50-75mph in 3.9 seconds, a figure that counts for more on UK motorway slip roads than a 0-62mph time ever will. A 145kW front motor and a 70kW rear motor combine for 215kW (288bhp) and 468Nm of torque, with drive split toward the front axle to keep the car feeling planted rather than twitchy.

Range drops only slightly compared with the standard long-range EV4, at up to 313 miles on the WLTP combined cycle. Charging tops out at 128kW on a DC rapid charger, enough for a 10-80% top-up in 31 minutes. Top speed is capped at 105mph to protect range and keep the car within its comfort zone on fast A-roads.

EV3 GT and EV5 GT: the same formula, different sizes

The EV3 GT uses identical power and torque figures to the EV4 GT but weighs slightly more, pushing its 0-62mph time to 5.7 seconds. It compensates with the best range of the three cars, up to 334 miles on a single charge, and remains Kia’s fastest-selling EV in the UK.

The EV5 GT is the biggest and heaviest of the trio, and the only one with a different power output: 301bhp and 480Nm of torque from its dual motors, giving a 0-62mph time of 6.2 seconds and a WLTP range of up to 295 miles. Kia has pitched it as the most usable of the three, with a “Pet Mode” that keeps the cabin at a safe temperature for a dog or cat left briefly inside, rear climate control and a 44-litre front boot under the bonnet.

Standard safety kit and warranty cover

Every GT comes with a long list of standard driver assistance features, including Highway Driving Assist 2.0, Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go, a 360-degree surround view monitor and blind-spot collision avoidance. All three are covered by Kia’s seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty, plus an eight-year warranty on the battery pack, matching the rest of the Kia EV range.

The GT badge has featured on Kia models from the Cee’d GT in 2013 onward, but this is the first time it has been applied across three electric models at once, following the EV6 GT’s launch in 2022. With GT versions now available across the EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6 and EV9, Kia has built a performance option into almost its entire electric line-up, giving buyers who want a quicker, more engaging version of their chosen model a route to one without leaving the brand.

Orders for all three GT models are open now through Kia’s UK dealer network.
