2027 GMC Sierra 1500 Priced From $51,295 with New 481-HP V8 Option

Six Trims Built Around One Bigger Engine

GMC has released full pricing and specifications for the next-generation 2027 Sierra 1500, its full-size pickup, ahead of dealership arrivals before the end of the year. The truck brings four engine choices, a redesigned interior, and a new touchscreen layout to a six-trim lineup that spans from the work-focused Pro to the luxury-trimmed Denali Ultimate.

What the New V8 Adds

The headline change sits under the hood. GMC’s new 6.6-liter Small Block V8 makes 481 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque, figures the company says make it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 and the largest-displacement V8 in its class. It joins a 5.7-liter V8 rated at 402 horsepower and 428 lb-ft, an updated turbocharged four-cylinder now rated at 350 horsepower and 455 lb-ft, and a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel rated at 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft. All four pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The diesel offers the longest range in the lineup. Paired with the available 34-gallon fuel tank, GMC estimates it can cover more than 900 miles of highway driving on one tank. Trailering capacity tops out at 13,500 pounds with the 5.7-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package.

Six Trims, Different Jobs

Pro sits at the bottom of the range with the turbocharged engine, an expanded standard safety suite including adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking, and a starting price of $51,295 including freight.

Elevation adds bucket seats, a MultiPro tailgate with 16 tie-down points, and quad exhaust for $59,995. AT4 moves into off-road territory with a factory two-inch lift, 34-inch all-terrain tires, and a standard V8, priced from $73,495. AT4X pushes further with 35-inch mud-terrain tires, front and rear locking differentials, and a new Baja drive mode built for high-speed desert running, starting at $85,495.

Denali and Denali Ultimate cover the luxury end. Denali starts at $76,795 with real wood trim and a panoramic sunroof. Denali Ultimate tops the range at $87,895 with massaging front seats, a 16-speaker Bose sound system, and more than 60 inches of combined digital display space, which GMC calls the most of any truck in its class.

A New Interior and Screen Layout

Every 2027 Sierra gets a new dashboard built around a 16.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.2-inch driver display. Higher trims add an 11.5-inch passenger screen that uses polarized technology so only the passenger can see it, plus a head-up display. The software runs on GM’s newest interface with Google Gemini, Google Maps, and the Google Play app store built in, alongside Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.

Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free highway driving system, comes standard on AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate, and is available on Elevation. Camera coverage expands too: buyers can add up to 19 total views, including underbody cameras with a built-in wash system for checking ground clearance off-road.

Standard Safety Gets Broader

GMC also widened the standard safety features across the entire lineup for 2027. Every trim now includes intersection automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, side bicyclist alert, reverse automatic braking, and a rear vision camera, on top of the adaptive cruise control and park assist already standard on Pro. GMC counts 12 new standard safety features and at least eight new standard content features spread across the six trims.

The cargo bed carries 16 standard tie-down points, which GMC calls the most in its class, along with cargo volume GMC says beats every rival in the segment. AT4X buyers can add the AEV Edition package, bringing off-road bumpers front and rear, skid plates, recovery hooks, and 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, though GMC says that package arrives later in the model year.

When It Arrives

GMC expects the first 2027 Sierra 1500 models to reach dealerships before the end of 2026, starting with Crew Cab four-wheel-drive versions. Regular Cab, Double Cab, and other drivetrain combinations follow as production expands, GMC said, with pricing for those configurations announced later.

For buyers cross-shopping the segment, the range now spans roughly $36,600 between the cheapest Pro and the most expensive Denali Ultimate, giving GMC a wide spread to compete across the full-size truck market. The new V8’s power figure and the diesel’s range estimate give GMC two numbers to point to as it heads into the 2027 model year.

Buyers who want the new V8’s extra power should note it is not standard across the lineup. The 5.7-liter comes standard on AT4 and Denali, while the 6.6-liter is standard only on AT4X and Denali Ultimate, and available as an upgrade elsewhere. GMC has not published exact production timing for lower trims, so buyers who want a specific engine should confirm availability before ordering.
