Volkswagen Prices 2027 Atlas From $41,610 With More Standard Tech

All-new 2027 Volkswagen Atlas

Volkswagen has set pricing for the redesigned 2027 Atlas, and the three-row SUV now starts at $41,610 for front-wheel drive, a jump that comes with a longer standard-equipment list than the outgoing model carried. All-wheel drive adds $2,000 across the lineup, and a $1,525 destination charge applies to every trim.

The base SE trim now includes a power tailgate, dual wireless phone charging, rear sunshades and Park Distance Control as standard, items that used to require a step up the trim ladder on the old Atlas. Buyers who want the biggest jump in tech and style will pay more for it: four trims separate the $41,610 entry point from the $56,610 range-topper.

  • SE: $41,610 FWD / $43,610 with 4Motion AWD
  • SE w/Technology: $45,610 FWD / $47,610 with 4Motion AWD
  • SEL R-Line: $52,110, 4Motion AWD standard
  • SEL Premium R-Line: $56,610, 4Motion AWD standard

Destination adds $1,525 on top of every one of those figures, and Volkswagen has not published a firm on-sale date beyond confirming the pricing is official ahead of dealer arrival.

Four Trims Cover a $15,000 Spread

The SE trim opens the lineup at $41,610 for front-wheel drive and $43,610 with 4Motion all-wheel drive. It rides on 18-inch machined aluminum-alloy wheels and comes with LED headlights that include an adaptive front-lighting system, animated LED taillights, heated side mirrors that fold and auto-dim, and a power liftgate with hands-free open and close. Keyless entry works on all five doors, remote start is standard, and a 115-volt outlet sits in the second row for charging devices or small appliances on a road trip.

Step up to the SE w/Technology, priced from $45,610 for front-wheel drive and $47,610 with all-wheel drive, and the Atlas gains 20-inch wheels, illuminated door handles and logos, and a 15-inch touchscreen in place of the base display. Ambient lighting expands to 10 colors and wraps into the front footwells, and the rearview mirror adds HomeLink garage-door control and a built-in compass. Both the SE w/Technology and every trim above it get a 5,000-pound tow rating with a standard factory-installed hitch, twice what many family SUVs manage without an aftermarket upgrade.

A panoramic sunroof remains a $1,200 option across the range, second-row captain’s chairs cost $695, and a blacked-out wheel package runs $595 on the lower trims.

SEL R-Line and Premium R-Line Bring the Luxury Touches

The SEL R-Line starts at $52,110 and comes only with 4Motion all-wheel drive. Sport-styled bumpers, body-color side sills, a blacked-out grille and stainless steel pedals mark it out, along with full projector LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, heated washer nozzles and a Dynamic Road Sign Display that flags posted speed limits on the dash. Inside, Varenna leather seating, a head-up display, Discover Media navigation and heated and ventilated second-row seats replace the cloth trim and basic infotainment of lower grades, and the ambient lighting grows to 30 colors with a spiral pattern that runs through perforated door panels in both rows.

At the top, the SEL Premium R-Line asks $56,610 and adds 21-inch wheels, mirror puddle lights that project the VW logo, and power-folding mirrors on the outside. Volkswagen has not detailed every interior change on the Premium R-Line beyond the SEL R-Line’s kit, but the badge has historically meant the highest-grade materials and the fullest driver-assistance suite in the lineup.

A Refreshed 2.0-Liter Engine Under the Hood

Volkswagen paired the new Atlas with an upgraded 2.0-liter engine that the automaker says produces more power and better fuel economy than the unit it replaces, though the company has not released final horsepower or torque figures ahead of the on-sale date. The seven-seat cabin carries over the practical layout that made the outgoing Atlas one of the roomiest three-row SUVs sold in America, now wrapped in real wood trim and available Nappa leather that Volkswagen has not offered on this model before.

Every Atlas SE w/Technology and above tows up to 5,000 pounds with a braked trailer, enough for a small camper or a pair of jet skis, and the standard hitch means owners will not need to budget for an aftermarket install. Volkswagen has kept the engine choice simple, running the same 2.0-liter four across the whole range rather than reserving a stronger unit for the top trims, so the power and towing figures stay consistent whether a buyer picks the $41,610 SE or the $56,610 Premium R-Line.

Where the Atlas Lands Against Its Rivals

The Atlas’s $41,610 opening price sits above the Kia Telluride’s $37,885 and the Hyundai Palisade’s $39,435, but undercuts the Honda Pilot’s $42,395 and comes in well below the Toyota Highlander’s $46,270 starting point. For buyers cross-shopping three-row SUVs on price, the Atlas lands in the middle of the pack, though its standard feature list on the base trim, including the power tailgate, wireless charging and Park Distance Control, gives it an edge that the sticker price alone does not show.

Shoppers cross-shopping the segment will find the real difference shows up once trims are matched rather than base prices alone. A loaded Telluride or Palisade can climb past $50,000 once comparable tech and towing gear get added, putting it close to the Atlas SEL R-Line’s $52,110 starting point, while the Atlas SE w/Technology at $47,610 AWD already bundles the 15-inch touchscreen, HomeLink and the 5,000-pound tow package that some rivals hold back for higher grades.

Volkswagen builds the Atlas at its Chattanooga, Tennessee plant alongside the smaller Atlas Cross Sport, and sells the SUV through more than 600 U.S. dealers. Pricing and specifications remain preliminary and subject to change before the 2027 Atlas reaches showrooms.
