“The rear wheel drive MGS5 EV features highly responsive and engaging driving characteristics, seamlessly combining sportiness with excellent range as well as rapid charging and a choice of two batteries. It is our most compelling and complete EV so far, performing strongly in every arena.”

Inside the new MGS5 EV: spacious, versatile and stylish
With its advanced MG Modular Scalable Platform and ultra-thin 110mm Horizontal Cell Design, the MGS5 EV is not only a highly rewarding driver’s car but has the capacity to be a spacious, highly versatile as well as  comfortable SUV. Four adult occupants, with plenty of room for luggage, can be comfortably accommodated.

There’s 1026mm of headroom for front seat occupants and 967mm passengers in the rear, with a 60:40 split fold as standard in the rear. Numerous storage spaces have been created across the cabin and boot space is amongst the best in class. There’s 453 litres standard boot space but with the rear seats folded this increases to 1441 litres. A two-stage boot floor provides further flexibility and additional features include a boot hook, mesh pockets and anchor points. A smart, electric tailgate is also provided.

The important SUV essentials of generous space for all passengers and numerous, smart storage spaces are comprehensively covered, but MGS5 EV goes beyond practicality.

A centrally positioned 12.8” HD touchscreen – with enhanced graphics and even faster response times – provides a sophisticated focal point. Additionally, physical buttons – requested by many MG customers – are available to control main functions such as Audio Control, HVAC, Hazard Warning lights and demisting and also features a Home Button. Quick and extremely simple to operate, these manual controls avoid driver distraction and offers greater choice. A 10.25” HD digital drivers display completes the line-up.

The interior space of the MGS5 EV is designed to impress, with the introduction of a wide range new materials including soft touch plastics and stylish touches like the wireless phone charger finished in a suede style material. The MGS5 EV Trophy seats are finished with dual tone grey leather-style with the MG pattern embossed on the seat strips. MG’s highly distinctive, six-sided steering wheel design – first featured on MG4 – adds a stylish touch.

MGS5 EV delivers comfort and choice throughout the cabin. The SE and Trophy feature a six-way adjustable driver’s seat and a 4-way adjustable passenger’s seat, the Trophy flagship features heated front seats and steering wheel as well as rear privacy glass. Lumbar support is offered on the MGS5 EV Trophy.

The MGS5 EV provides an extensive suite of accessible and effective new technology. This includes iSMART which offers fast, smart and convenient interaction between driver and vehicle via a mobile device.

The package includes the ability to lock and unlock MGS5 EV, find the parking location, pre-start the climate control ahead of your journey, create travel plans and check key information such as available driving range, battery charge status and tyre pressures. iSMART is a standard offering for all MGS5 EV models.

The centrally positioned High Definition 12.8” touchscreen comes with wireless connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and MG customers can now enjoy a range of popular apps such as You Tube, Spotify and TikTok which are all built-in.

MG Pilot provides a complete portfolio of clever assistance technologies for MGS5 EV, this includes an extensive array of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) designed to make every journey as straightforward and as safe as possible. MG Pilot covers key areas such as Collision Avoidance, Lane Safety, Cruise Control features and Driving Assistance features including active emergency braking and blind spot detection.

Unique to MGS5 EV is the MG Pilot Custom option, enabling the driver to customize and then store their preferred features. MG Pilot Custom is easily accessible in the menu and can be reconfigured with new preferences if the driver wishes.

Advanced, safety-focussed technology extends beyond the cabin with MG partnering with Continental to equip MGS5 EV with outstanding braking performance. The latest generation of Continental’s integrated braking booster system for EV’s is utilised with large brake discs (321mm front, 300 rear) delivering impressive braking distance. From 62mph, MGS5 EV can achieve standstill in 35.5 metres.

MGS5 EV: powerful, dynamic and efficient performance
MGS5 EV is the second MG model to be built on the highly-acclaimed Modular Scalable Platform (MSP). First introduced on the award-winning MG4, this platform is specifically designed for EVs with a lightweight chassis improving electric range and driving dynamics. Rear wheel drive with 47:53 weight distribution, as well as a rear Five-Link suspension, further enhances this MG’s ride and handling.

A high-performance electric drive system, efficient and compact, delivers maximum power of 170kW and maximum torque is 350Nm. Full torque can be delivered in under 50 milliseconds which supports some impressive acceleration across the range. On the SE Long Range 0-62mph can be achieved in just 6.3 seconds.

The introduction  of five drive modes gives the MGS5 EV driver even greater choice to suit every road condition or simply drive their way. Normal, Sport, Comfort, Snow and Custom now feature.

Smart efficiency to optimise range has been developed for the MGS5 EV, new bearings reduce rolling resistance by a further 25 percent over previous models and the combination of an Integrated Braking System and Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) can recover energy from deceleration.

MG’s new SUV is equipped with two battery options, a 49kWh option for the SE Standard Range and 64kWh for SE Long Range and the Trophy Long Range. The 64kWh battery provides a combined driving range of 298 miles on the SE Long Range and 288 miles for the Trophy Long Range. An Innovative adaptive pressure control system maintains optimal pressure levels to extend battery life.

Charging performance for both the 49kWH and 64kWh batteries means a minimum of downtime with Rapid Charging (10 to 80 percent) of the 49kWh battery taking just 24 minutes. The larger 64kWh battery can be charged in 28 minutes. Maximum DC charging is 120kW for the 49KwH battery and 139kW for the Long Range 64kWh battery.

MGS5 EV design: sharp, contemporary and detailed
Modern MG design for the marque’s EV models is sharp, contemporary and detailed with the MGS5 EV drawing inspiration from the dramatic Cyberster GT convertible.

A spacious cabin does not mean the MGS5 EV’s body styling is remotely ‘boxy’ SUV. Viewed in profile there are strong powerlines providing a hint of athleticism.

At the front MGS5 EV has a striking Cyberster split grille design in addition to integrated high/low beam lights. The LED Daytime Running Lamps have a chequered flag signature which is also repeated at the rear. The side cladding running down the length of the MGS5 EV is finished in silver as are the sweeping twin roof rails.

At the rear there’s a distinctive, technical light bar as well as stylish spoiler. MGS5 EV SE models offer a 17” alloy with an 18” wheel design selected for the Trophy. MG’s  octagon badge is prominently displayed on the bonnet and six colour options have been selected. Black Pearl, Cosmic Silver, Arctic White, Dynamic Red and Camden Grey (all popular with MG customers) are joined by the eye-catching Piccadilly Blue.
