Chery Extends Seven-Year Warranty Cover to More Parts for All UK Owners

Chery has extended the warranty cover on its TIGGO range in the UK, moving more than a dozen components from three years and 40,000 miles up to seven years and 100,000 miles. The change applies to every Chery already on UK roads, not just cars bought from now on, and owners do not need to do anything to get it.

Parts that often fail once a standard warranty runs out, including the alternator, starter motor, fuel pump and brake calipers, are now covered for the full seven-year term. For anyone comparing a Chinese-brand SUV against an established rival, it closes one of the biggest gaps buyers usually worry about: what happens to running costs once the manufacturer safety net disappears.

More Parts Now Covered for Seven Years

Under the old policy, most mechanical and electrical parts outside the powertrain carried a three-year, 40,000-mile warranty. Chery has now moved the following components onto the full seven-year, 100,000-mile term: the air conditioning compressor, alternator, brake calipers, catalytic converter, infotainment unit, exhaust system, fuel injectors, fuel pump, oil pump, shock absorbers, starter motor, track rod ends, water pump, wheel bearings and electric window regulators.

Bushes and rubber components move from three years and 40,000 miles to seven years and 60,000 miles, and cover for ball joints gets the same upgrade. Those are wear items that typically show up on an MOT sheet from year four or five onward, so stretching their cover cuts one of the more predictable costs of running an older car.

How It Compares to Other Brands

A three-year, 60,000-mile warranty is still the industry norm across most mainstream manufacturers in the UK. Only a handful of brands, Kia and Hyundai chief among them, have offered seven-year cover as standard. By pushing the bulk of its parts list out to match that term, Chery is placing itself alongside the longest warranties on sale in the UK rather than the shortest, at a time when the brand is still trying to convince buyers to trust a newcomer over a badge they already know.

Existing Owners Get the Upgrade Automatically

Chery is applying the enhanced terms retrospectively to every vehicle sold in the UK from the brand’s launch, with no forms to fill in and no dealer visit required. The updated warranty terms take effect immediately and apply automatically to the car’s existing service record.

Farrel Hsu, Managing Director of CHERY UK, said: “Over the past year, we have established a solid foundation in the UK, from our compelling range of TIGGO SUVs to our comprehensive retailer network. As we continue to grow and invest in the UK, our priority remains the same: making safe, advanced, efficient vehicles more accessible to modern families, and offering an outstanding ownership experience. The enhancements we’ve made to our vehicle warranty are an integral part of that, and reflect our commitment to always putting our customers first.”

Cutting the Cost of Owning a Chery

The components Chery has singled out are not random. Alternators, starter motors and fuel pumps are among the most common reasons a car fails once it passes out of a manufacturer’s original cover, and replacement bills for any of them can run into several hundred pounds at a main dealer. Pushing that cover out to seven years or 100,000 miles means most owners will trade the car in, or sell it on, before those bills ever land on them.

Buyers who are already looking at a TIGGO get a second incentive this month too. Chery is offering 0% finance on the TIGGO 7, 8 and 9 in their Chery Super Hybrid plug-in hybrid form throughout August, on top of the warranty change. Anyone cross-shopping a Chery against a more established SUV brand now has a longer warranty and a cheaper finance rate to weigh against a badge with a longer track record. Chery’s First Year in the UK

Chery launched in the UK in August 2025 with a four-car TIGGO range running from the compact TIGGO 4 up to the seven-seat TIGGO 9. All four are available with the brand’s plug-in hybrid CSH powertrain, pairing an electric-only range for daily driving with a petrol engine for longer trips.

The brand says it now has more than 85 retailers open in the UK, with a target of 120 by autumn. The TIGGO 8 was the UK’s best-selling seven-seater in June, and Chery reached a 2% UK market share in July. A seven-year warranty and free roadside assistance were already part of the standard package before this update; the newly widened parts list makes that cover count for more once a car is a few years old, and it removes one of the last reasons a cautious buyer might still pick a longer-established brand over a Chery.
