Aston Martin Valen Is the Most Powerful Front-Engined Supercar Ever Built

Aston Martin Valen: the most powerful front engined supercar

Aston Martin has revealed Valen, a new V12 special from Q by Aston Martin, the brand’s in-house commissioning division. Aston Martin calls it the most powerful front-engined production car built by any manufacturer, and the most powerful front-engined car in the company’s own 113-year history.

The numbers back up the claim. Aston Martin’s 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 makes 850PS (838bhp) and 1,000Nm of torque from 2,500rpm, enough for a target 0-60mph time of 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 214mph. Production is capped at 150 cars worldwide, with first deliveries set for the second quarter of 2027.

Cutting Mass From an Already Potent Platform

Aston Martin says Valen sheds up to 110kg compared with the standard V12 platform it’s built on, using carbon fibre, aluminium, titanium and magnesium throughout the car. An optional lightweight pack, with suspension arms and knuckles machined from solid aluminium and titanium chassis bolts, saves a further 16.9kg on its own. New magnesium wheels cut unsprung mass too, wrapped in tyres Pirelli developed specifically for the car: a 275/35 ZR21 front and 325/30 ZR21 rear P Zero R, alongside a dedicated winter tyre option.

The car also debuts Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre technology on an Aston Martin for the first time, a system that shares live tyre data with the car’s stability and traction systems in real time, developed jointly with Bosch. Valen is the first project to come out of Aston Martin’s newly formed Special Vehicle Operations department, a team built specifically to run limited-run projects like this one alongside Q by Aston Martin.

Valen’s 850PS puts it ahead of the front-engined rivals it will be cross-shopped against. Ferrari’s 812 Competizione tops out at 819PS from a naturally aspirated V12, while Mercedes-AMG’s GT 63 S E Performance uses a hybrid V8 to reach a similar figure to Valen’s without the same soundtrack. None of them claim the outright front-engined power record Aston Martin is making for Valen.

An 8-Speed Gearbox Tuned Like a Race Car’s

Power reaches the rear wheels through an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox using shift strategies borrowed from Aston Martin’s Vantage GT4 race program. Five drive modes, Wet, Sport, Sport+, Track and Individual, adjust the throttle map, steering feel, suspension and gearbox behaviour, and engineers retuned the brake booster and 410mm front, 360mm rear carbon-ceramic brakes for what Aston Martin calls a firmer, more precise pedal.

A New Exhaust Tuned for Sound

Valen gets a dedicated titanium exhaust system with four tailpipes, two fixed upper outlets and two lower outlets that open depending on drive mode. Aston Martin’s engineers tuned the system to cut lower frequencies and boost higher ones, aiming for a sharper, more urgent soundtrack than other V12 Aston Martins. The tailpipe finishers are 3D-printed titanium, a manufacturing method the brand says allows a level of detail and low mass a cast part could not match.

A Design Built Around a Single Idea

Valen’s carbon fibre body drops the traditional trunk lid and rear window in favor of a single tailgate with a built-in wing, opening onto a 170-litre boot with an available luggage set shaped to fill the space. Slim, hooded headlights sit beneath a sharply raked hood, and the traditional Aston Martin side strake has been stretched into a full-length vent that pulls air from the wheel arch and channels it down the car’s flanks. Saw-tooth vortex generators on the sills pull high-speed air from underneath the car to cut lift without a large rear wing.

The launch car wears a satin paint called Andromeda Red, developed through Aston Martin’s Q Ultra program, that shifts between deep red, copper and blue tones depending on the light. Buyers can also spec a fully exposed carbon fibre exterior, including a herringbone weave pattern running down the car’s centreline, with the carbon available tinted in a range of colours.

Inside, buyers choose between full semi-aniline leather or a leather and Alcantara mix, then pick from five material layouts ranging from a single-tone cabin to a driver-focused design that highlights just the driver’s seat with contrast stitching. A slim centre console, built using 3D-printed parts and carried over from the Valhalla hypercar, angles the switchgear toward the driver, and perforated trim panels echo the car’s exterior vents. Aston Martin offers newly developed anodised colour options for the cabin’s metal trim, adding another layer of choice on top of the exterior and seat combinations.

150 Cars, First Deliveries in 2027

Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark said: “The latest in a bloodline of limited production special series models from our bespoke service, Q by Aston Martin, Valen’s world-beating performance required a design to capture the raw motion and unmatched output of our V12 powertrain. With more power, less weight, and a spectacular soundtrack, the dramatic design is backed up by equally dramatic performance.”

Valen continues a lineage of V12 specials from Q by Aston Martin that includes the Valour, Valiant and DBR22, and traces back further to the One-77, Vulcan and Victor. Pricing has not been released, though the marque’s V12 Vantage, limited to 333 cars, sold out before its 2022 reveal, and Valen’s production run of just 150 cars against Aston Martin’s established V12 collector base points to a similar result.

The Aston Martin Valen configurator has gone live at configurator.astonmartin.com, letting registered customers begin specifying a car ahead of first deliveries.
