  • The AION UT electric hatchback reaches UK dealers this weekend priced from £28,950, with a launch-month PCP deal at 0% APR.
  • Buyers get a 268-mile WLTP range and 30-80% rapid charging in 24 minutes as standard.
  • Every AION UT comes with an eight-year warranty, servicing, roadside assistance and MOT cover that transfers to future owners.

A New B-Segment Rival Undercuts the Established EV Pack

AION Auto UK’s second model goes on sale this weekend, and the brand is opening with an aggressive price. The AION UT, a B-segment electric hatchback, starts at £28,950 on the road, placing it squarely against the Renault 5, MG4 and Vauxhall Corsa Electric in one of the UK’s most competitive EV segments.

Test drives begin this weekend at AION dealerships across the country, and the brand has paired the launch with two limited-time offers. Customers who take a test drive and place an order in September qualify for a PCP deal priced from £349 a month at 0% APR through AION Financial Services, on a 48-month agreement covering 6,000 miles a year. The deposit is £1,949, which already includes a £500 contribution from AION toward that first payment.

Range and Charging Beat Most Rivals in the Class

The AION UT carries a 268-mile WLTP combined range as standard, ahead of most B-segment electric hatchbacks currently on sale in the UK. Rapid charging takes the battery from 30% to 80% in 24 minutes, so a motorway stop can add well over 100 miles in under half an hour.

AION has tuned the UT’s chassis specifically for British roads, aiming for a ride the brand describes as playful and composed rather than simply comfortable. Jon Wakefield, managing director of AION Auto UK, said: “We’re kicking off our AION UT sales with a pair of hugely attractive offers for this September launch month. Its class-leading space, quality, range and features puts it head and shoulders above the competition, and the finance offers make it fantastic value for our first customers placing their orders before the end of September.”

An Eight-Year Promise Aimed at Nervous Buyers

New brands entering the UK car market face an obvious problem: convincing buyers the company will still be around to honour a warranty. AION’s answer is the “Great 8 Promise,” which bundles an eight-year warranty, eight years of servicing, eight years of roadside assistance and MOT cover until the car turns eight. The package is tied to the vehicle’s VIN rather than the original owner, so it transfers automatically if the car is sold on, a detail that should help resale values.

Servicing and repairs run through a partnership with the AA, giving AION owners access to accredited workshops nationwide alongside more than 140 mobile service technicians. That network counts for a brand still building its UK dealer footprint, as owners in areas without a nearby AION showroom still have a route to maintenance.

Most mainstream manufacturers offer a three-year warranty, with Kia and Toyota among the few extending cover to seven or ten years under specific conditions. AION’s eight-year package across warranty, servicing, roadside assistance and MOT testing goes further than nearly all of its rivals, and the transferable terms remove one of the biggest resale obstacles typically faced by unfamiliar brands.

Interior Space Built Around Larger-Class Comparisons

AION says the UT’s cabin delivers interior space, features and materials more commonly found in larger, pricier cars. The brand has not published full technical specifications for the UK market beyond range and charging figures, but the pitch centres on treating a B-segment hatchback buyer to C-segment levels of practicality without the higher price tag that usually comes with it.

Behind the scenes, AION has also set up a UK parts warehouse with DHL to support next-day delivery of components to dealers and independent workshops. For a brand with a small dealer network, fast parts supply cuts the risk of long waits for repairs, a common complaint levelled at newer manufacturers still scaling up their UK operations.

The Second Step in AION’s UK Push

AION arrived in the UK earlier this year with the AION V electric SUV and has now followed it with the smaller, cheaper UT. The brand is a joint venture between GAC Group, one of China’s largest carmakers, and Jameel Motors, a distributor that already represents Toyota, Lexus and BYD across more than ten countries. AION Auto UK is based in Slough and run by a UK management team with existing experience in the domestic car trade, a structure meant to reassure buyers wary of newer Chinese entrants.

The UK is the second-largest EV market in Europe, and AION has said the country plays a central role in its wider international plans. Pricing the UT below £29,000 with a 0% finance offer signals a brand trying to win volume quickly rather than build a reputation slowly. Whether that approach pays off depends on how UT owners find the car once the launch offers end and the AION name has to stand on its own.
