  • AION’s new UT electric hatchback goes on sale at UK dealers this weekend, priced from £28,950 with a 268-mile WLTP range.
  • Buyers who test drive and place an order in September get 0% APR finance from £349 a month plus a £500 deposit contribution from AION.
  • The car carries an eight-year warranty, servicing and roadside assistance package, with maintenance handled through a new AA partnership.

A Second UK Model Arrives With a Sharp Price Tag

AION Auto UK opens its UT electric hatchback to test drives this weekend, its second model on sale here after the AION V SUV arrived in spring. The UT lands in the crowded B-segment electric hatchback class, where buyers already choose between the MG4, Vauxhall Corsa Electric and Renault 5, and it does so with a launch price and finance offer built to grab attention rather than settle quietly into the middle of the pack.

AION is the electric arm of Guangzhou Automobile Group, one of China’s largest carmakers, sold in the UK through a joint venture with Jameel Motors. The company is headquartered in Slough and runs its UK operation with a local management team, a structure it hopes will help it compete against established rivals rather than trade purely on price.

Pricing and the September Finance Offer

The UT starts at £28,950 on the road. For September only, AION pairs that with a PCP deal from £349 a month at 0% APR through AION Financial Services, on a 48-month agreement covering 6,000 miles a year. The customer deposit is £1,949, which already includes a £500 contribution from AION for anyone who takes a test drive and orders the car before the end of the month. Cars ordered under the offer need to be delivered by 31 October 2026.

That undercuts most versions of the MG4, which starts around £27,000 for its entry Urban trim but climbs toward £30,000 for the longer-range Premium models, and sits close to the cheapest Vauxhall Corsa Electric trims, which start from roughly £27,500 once discounts are applied. The 0% finance rate is the sharper hook: neither of those rivals routinely offers interest-free PCP deals at this price point, making the UT’s September offer one of the more direct value plays in the class right now.

Range, Charging and Everyday Driving

AION quotes a 268-mile WLTP combined range for the UT, ahead of the Corsa Electric’s 222 miles and competitive with the longer-range MG4 variants, which reach into the low 300s in their most expensive form. A 30-80% rapid charge takes 24 minutes, a figure in line with what most electric superminis now offer at a public rapid charger.

AION says the UT’s chassis has been tuned specifically for UK roads rather than carried over unchanged from other markets, a detail the brand is keen to stress given how often imported EVs get criticised for a ride that feels unsettled on British B-roads. Buyers will only find out how well that tuning has worked once cars reach dealers and reviewers get behind the wheel.

The UT arrives in a UK electric hatchback market that has grown busier every year as more brands chase buyers who want a small, affordable EV rather than a larger crossover. First-time electric car buyers tend to weigh three things above everything else: what the car costs each month, how far it will go on a charge, and whether it will still be running well in five or six years. AION’s answer touches all three, pairing a competitive purchase price with above-average range and a warranty long enough to outlast most people’s ownership of the car entirely.

Warranty and Ownership Support

AION backs the UT with what it calls the Great 8 Promise: an eight-year warranty, eight years of servicing, eight years of roadside assistance and MOT cover until the car turns eight, all tied to the vehicle’s VIN and transferable to a second owner. That warranty length matches or beats most rivals in the class, where five to seven years is typical, and it removes one of the bigger question marks buyers tend to raise about newer, less familiar brands: what happens if something goes wrong after the first couple of years.

Servicing and repairs run through a partnership with the AA, which gives AION access to a network of accredited workshops and more than 140 mobile service technicians nationwide. For a brand still building out its own UK dealer footprint, leaning on an established breakdown and servicing network is a practical way to reassure early buyers that support will not disappear if their nearest AION dealer is a long drive away.

Jon Wakefield, managing director of AION Auto UK, said the September offers are designed to reward the brand’s first UT customers directly: “We’re kicking off our AION UT sales with a pair of hugely attractive offers for this September launch month. Its class-leading space, quality, range and features puts it head and shoulders above the competition, and the finance offers make it fantastic value for our first customers placing their orders before the end of September.”

Test drives start this weekend at AION dealerships across the UK, with the September finance offer running until the end of the month.
