OMODA 9 SHS-P Gains Black Noble Grade and MY26 Updates From £44,995

OMODA UK has priced its updated OMODA 9 SHS-P plug-in hybrid SUV from £44,995, with a new black-on-black Black Noble grade landing at £46,495. Both versions are open for pre-order now, and first deliveries start in August.

The MY26 changes bring a retuned suspension, new massage seats and an upgraded charging feature to the flagship SUV, on top of a hybrid powertrain that already delivers a claimed 700-mile combined range. For buyers cross-shopping plug-in hybrid SUVs, the update gives OMODA’s range-topper a sharper price and a longer feature list than it had a year ago.

A Flagship Built for Long Journeys

The OMODA 9 SHS-P pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 34.46kWh battery pack to produce 449PS and 700Nm of torque. That combination pushes the SUV from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, a properly rapid time for a family-sized SUV. OMODA quotes a combined range beyond 700 miles, including up to 90 miles on electric power alone, and CO2 emissions from just 38g/km put the car in a low company car tax band, a rare combination for an SUV with this much power.

For MY26, OMODA has retuned the independent suspension and added Continuous Damping Control, a system that reads road surfaces and driver inputs in real time and adjusts damping to suit. Owners moving up from an older OMODA 9 or a rival mid-size SUV should notice a calmer ride on rough tarmac and less body roll through corners, with an updated steering setup aimed at sharpening driver feel without making the car feel nervous on the motorway.

Inside, both grades pick up a suede cloth headlining, front massage seats and wider electric seat adjustment, now running to eight-way for the driver and six-way for the passenger, with an electric thigh bolster added on the driver’s side. A heated windscreen and an upgraded 6.6kW Vehicle-to-Load feature round out the changes, letting owners run power tools, camping kit or an outdoor speaker straight from the car’s battery.

Black Noble Grade: What the Extra £1,500 Buys

The new Black Noble grade swaps the OMODA 9’s chrome trim for a full black treatment. Matte Iced Jasper Black paint covers the body, with black alloy wheels, matte black roof rails and bumper trims, and black suede cloth detailing carried through to the cabin. It costs £46,495 OTR, a £1,500 premium over the standard MY26 OMODA 9 SHS-P.

Buyers can pick between three interior trim colours across the range: Onyx Black, Oxford Tan or Phantom Grey. Victor Zhang, Managing Director of OMODA UK, said the Black Noble grade gives customers “an alternative take on the flagship that feels more tailored and contemporary”, pitched at drivers who want a darker, more understated look than the standard car.

Warranty and Running Costs

OMODA backs the SHS-P with a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery, provided owners service the car through the OMODA&JAECOO network. Combined with the plug-in hybrid tax band and a claimed 90-mile electric range, the OMODA 9 SHS-P targets company car drivers and families who want SUV space without a heavy fuel bill on longer trips.

Both the standard OMODA 9 SHS-P and the Black Noble grade are available to pre-order now through OMODA’s UK dealer network, with deliveries starting in August. Buyers ordering now should get their cars before the end of summer, ahead of the usual September registration rush.

How It Stacks Up Against Rivals

OMODA&JAECOO’s combined UK market share reached 4.58% in June, and the brand now runs 146 dealers nationwide, up sharply from a standing start just a few years ago. The OMODA 9 SHS-P competes against plug-in hybrid rivals such as the Kia Sorento PHEV and Volvo XC90 Recharge, undercutting both on price while matching or beating their power output on paper.

The newly launched OMODA 7 sits below the 9 in the range, between the smaller OMODA 5 and the flagship, giving buyers a wider spread of sizes and price points than the brand offered a year ago.
