Pricing and What Changes for 2027

Kia has set pricing for the gas-powered 2027 Sportage, and the compact SUV still starts under $29,000 before a single option gets added. The base LX front-wheel-drive model carries an MSRP of $28,990, plus a $1,495 destination fee, putting it roughly $3,400 below the 2026 Honda CR-V and more than $4,500 below the 2026 Toyota RAV4.

Most of the gas-engine lineup carries over unchanged for 2027. The real news sits with the X-Line trim, which now comes standard with a panoramic sunroof and a smart power liftgate. Kia sold both of those features last year only as part of a $1,500 optional package. A new two-tone Road Rider Brown exterior color also joins the X-Line’s paint options.

The X-Line Math Works in Buyers’ Favor

Kia priced the 2026 Sportage X-Line AWD at $33,090, with the panoramic sunroof and power liftgate bundled into a separate $1,500 package on top of that. A buyer who wanted those features paid $34,590 total.

The 2027 X-Line AWD lists at $34,790, a $200 increase over what an equipped 2026 model cost, but the sunroof and liftgate no longer require an extra order line. Buyers get a car that’s simpler to configure at a price that’s barely moved. Kia frames the change as bringing the X-Line’s standard equipment closer to what shoppers get on the Sportage Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models, which already include those features at their equivalent trim levels.

For buyers who want the equipment upgrade without chasing the priciest trim, the X-Line AWD now delivers more standard content than it did a year ago, without forcing a jump to SX-Prestige money. Shoppers who care most about all-wheel-drive traction and day-to-day comfort features, rather than the full driver-assist technology suite, get more for the same rough budget than they did on the 2026 model.

Full 2027 Sportage Gas Pricing

Here’s the complete lineup, all figures MSRP and excluding the $1,495 destination fee:

  • Sportage LX FWD: $28,990
  • Sportage LX AWD: $30,790
  • Sportage EX FWD: $30,790
  • Sportage EX AWD: $32,590
  • Sportage X-Line AWD: $34,790
  • Sportage SX FWD: $34,590
  • Sportage SX-Prestige FWD: $36,590
  • Sportage SX-Prestige AWD: $38,390
  • Sportage X-Pro AWD: $39,890

Every trim above LX still requires all-wheel drive as a paid step up, except where AWD comes standard on the range-topping X-Pro. Kia has not yet released pricing for the Sportage Hybrid or Plug-in Hybrid for the 2027 model year; those figures will follow in a separate announcement.

Where the Sportage Sits Against Rivals

The compact SUV segment is the most competitive corner of the US new car market, and Kia has leaned on price to stand out in it. The 2026 Honda CR-V starts at $32,370 and the 2026 Toyota RAV4 at $33,495, so shoppers can step into a Sportage LX and still have close to $3,500 left over compared with those rivals’ base models. Even the mid-range Sportage EX AWD at $32,590 lands close to where the CR-V and RAV4 start their ranges.

The price gap counts most for buyers cross-shopping on cost rather than badge. The Sportage has picked up sales in recent years partly by offering features like the panoramic sunroof and a Harman Kardon audio system further down the trim ladder than some competitors do, and the shift to standard sunroof and liftgate on X-Line continues that pattern.

Kia has also held that pricing gap steady even as rivals push more advanced driver-assist tech and larger touchscreens further up their own lineups. A shopper cross-shopping the Sportage EX against a comparably equipped CR-V EX-L or RAV4 XLE typically finds a difference of $2,000 to $3,000 in the Kia’s favor, money that buyers can put toward a longer loan term, a larger down payment, or simply keep in their pocket.

What Buyers Get on the X-Line

Beyond the two newly standard features, the X-Line AWD keeps its darker exterior trim, unique wheel design and the option of a two-tone roof. Shoppers who want the full technology suite, including the 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, Highway Driving Assist and the surround-view camera system, still need to add the X-Line Technology Package, which carried a $2,500 price tag on the 2026 model. That keeps the top-spec Sportage well short of luxury-brand SUV pricing while still offering most of the safety and convenience tech found on pricier competitors.

Kia backs every Sportage with a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty for the original owner, well beyond the 5-year, 60,000-mile coverage Honda and Toyota offer on the CR-V and RAV4. For buyers planning to keep a compact SUV for a decade, that difference in coverage can offset a good chunk of any price gap between rivals long before the odometer gets close to six figures.

Kia builds the Sportage alongside several other US-market SUVs at its plant in Georgia, and sells the range through a network of roughly 800 dealers nationwide. The 2027 Sportage arrives at dealerships in the coming months, with exact order and delivery timing set by individual dealers.
