2025 Nissan Patrol: Our best look yet

The next-generation Nissan Patrol has been imagined with these computer-generated images – based on the best spy photos we’ve seen to date.

This is what the 2025 Nissan Patrol could look like when it arrives in showrooms in 18 months to two years from now.

These computer-generated images – by Drive Photoshop guru Theottle – are based on the clearest photos yet of the next-generation Nissan Patrol that appeared last week.

Following months of heavily camouflaged Nissan Patrol test vehicles being caught on camera, last week some of the thick, padded disguise was removed, providing the best look yet at the bold new shape of the headlights, grille, and front bumper design.

While these computer-generated images are our best guess – and not endorsed by Nissan or in any way a guarantee this is how the final version will look – it is nevertheless the clearest picture we’ve gathered so far.

On our wish list for the 2025 Nissan Patrol (but yet to be confirmed):

A full suite of advanced safety technologyApple CarPlay and Android AutoMore powerBetter efficiencyLonger driving rangeThe same or better on-road and off-road ability

A question mark hangs over what engine will power the next-generation Nissan Patrol, but there is broad speculation overseas the 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine in the current model will be replaced by twin-turbo V6 petrol power.

The development of new V8 engines is becoming increasingly unviable given the rollout of stricter vehicle emissions targets globally.

If the 2025 Nissan Patrol were to switch to twin-turbo V6 petrol power (from today’s V8) it would follow a similar move by the Toyota LandCruiser (which replaced the twin-turbo V8 diesel in the 200 Series with a twin-turbo V6 diesel in the latest 300 Series).

Australian fans of the current V8-powered Nissan Patrol are expected to have 18 months to two years to snap up the last of the breed.

Some V8 enthusiasts may have already sensed the impending shift to V6 power.

The Nissan Patrol V8 just celebrated its highest monthly sales result in Australia in September 2023 – and the best monthly result for the Nissan Patrol nameplate in 19 years, since 2004.

As reported by Drive last week, official new-car sales data showed 1208 examples of the Nissan Patrol V8 were reported as sold in September 2023 – an increase of 152 per cent compared to the same month last year.

It was the best monthly sales result for the nameplate since 1460 examples were reported as sold in June 2004 (though this tally also included about 400 pick-up variants).

The Nissan Patrol’s September 2023 sales figure was just 200 sales shy of the Toyota LandCruiser tally for the month (with 1404 reported as sold).

However, when year-to-date data is compared – from the start of January to the end of September 2023 – the Toyota LandCruiser still outsells the Nissan Patrol by approximately two-to-one (10,816 versus 5582), according to data compiled by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.
