Kia Expands GT Range with EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT

• Kia has added three new fully electric GT models to Europe: the EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT, each with dual-motor all-wheel drive and a distinct body style.

Kia’s Fastest Electric Cars Just Got Three New Shapes

Kia has widened its electric GT range from two performance flagships to five. The EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT join the existing EV6 GT and EV9 GT, bringing dual-motor all-wheel drive and Kia’s sportiest tuning to a compact SUV, a hatchback and fastback, and a family-sized C-SUV. All three debuted at the Brussels Motor Show and are on sale across Europe now, though Kia has not confirmed UK pricing or specification.

Pablo Martinez Masip, Vice President Product, Marketing and Customer Experience at Kia Europe, said the aim is to put GT performance within reach of more buyers. “With EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT, we are bringing the Kia GT experience to new segments and making electric performance accessible to a broader range of customers,” he said. “Each model has its own character, but they share the same ambition. The GT models make electric driving feel more responsive, more connected and more emotionally engaging, while retaining the everyday usability our customers expect.”

Three Cars, Three Personalities

The EV3 GT takes Kia’s compact SUV and adds a dual-motor setup producing 215kW (292PS) and 468Nm of torque, good for 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds. Kia pitches it as the pick for city and suburban driving, built around quick responses in tight, stop-start traffic rather than outright top speed.

The EV4 GT, sold in the UK as a hatchback only (Kia will not bring the fastback body to Britain), matches the EV3 GT’s power output but reaches 62mph half a second quicker, in 5.6 seconds, thanks to a lower body and shorter overhangs. Kia rates the hatchback’s WLTP range at up to 314 miles.

The EV5 GT steps up to a bigger C-SUV body with 225kW (306PS) and 480Nm of torque, covering 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds and running an 81.4kWh battery for up to 296 miles of range. It is the only one of the three built with families in mind, and it carries Kia’s Pet Mode, which keeps the cabin at a set temperature, locks the doors and disables the interior switches if a dog or cat is left in the car briefly.

The Tech Behind the GT Badge

All three cars share a set of GT-specific systems rather than just a power increase. Virtual Gear Shift simulates the feel of gear changes in a car that has no gearbox, while Active Sound Design pipes an artificial engine note through the speakers that rises and falls with speed and acceleration. Lift off the accelerator above 62mph without Virtual Gear Shift switched on, and the car still produces a distinct coasting sound through the same speakers.

Preview Electronic Controlled Suspension uses a forward-facing camera to read the road ahead and adjust each shock absorber within milliseconds. Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control brakes individual wheels and shifts motor power between the front and rear axles to hold a line through a corner. Drivers pick between Normal, Sport and GT drive modes, each changing damping stiffness and steering response, and Launch Control manages a consistent standing start when the driver wants maximum acceleration.

Kia tested the suspension tune on UK roads alongside routes in Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden, in both hot and cold conditions, before settling on the spring and anti-roll bar rates fitted to the production cars.

Cabin and Everyday Features

Each car gets GT-exclusive semi-bucket sports seats trimmed in suede with neon-green stitching, a perforated leather steering wheel, sport pedals and a Harman Kardon sound system tied into the Active Sound Design. The EV5 GT adds a driver Ergo Motion seat and front acoustic glass on top of the shared kit.

Away from performance, Kia has built in-car payments into the touchscreen, letting drivers pay for parking without pulling out a phone or a card. Netflix, YouTube and Disney+ run through the built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, and over-the-air updates let Kia push new features and fixes to the car after it has already reached a driveway.

Driver Assistance Across the Range

Standard safety kit across the three cars includes forward collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, high beam assist and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, plus a map-linked cruise system that adjusts speed for bends and speed limits automatically. The EV4 GT and EV5 GT add blind-spot collision-avoidance assist and a rear-view monitor as standard, features that stay optional on the EV3 GT alongside surround-view cameras and remote parking assist.

Building On the GT Badge

Kia first used the GT badge on the Ceed GT and ProCeed GT hot hatches, then on the Stinger GT, a rear-wheel-drive fastback built to compete with cars like the Audi A5 Sportback on feel rather than outright figures. The EV6 GT arrived in 2023 as Kia’s first electric GT, followed by the EV9 GT in a full-size electric SUV body. The EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT slot in below both, spreading the badge across three more body styles and, for the first time, into Kia’s mainstream compact and mid-size ranges rather than keeping it reserved for flagship models.

Visually, all three share GT-exclusive design cues rather than a single shared face. Neon-green brake callipers sit behind 20-inch GT alloy wheels on every model, and each car gets its own GT badge and a dedicated instrument cluster graphic that changes with the drive mode selected. The EV4 GT adds a GT logo projected onto the ground under the front doors when a driver unlocks the car, while the EV5 GT’s larger footprint carries the badge into the C-SUV segment for the first time at Kia.

An Emotional Pitch as Much as a Number-Driven One

Kia has been explicit that it built these three cars around how they make a driver feel rather than chasing the biggest acceleration figures in the class. The Performance Timer lets a driver record and compare their own 0-62mph runs from the touchscreen, and the Active Sound Design system ties directly into vehicle speed, throttle position and torque output rather than playing a fixed loop. On the EV4 GT specifically, Kia has tuned the accelerator pedal in three stages: a soft, controlled response at low speed for smooth urban driving, a looser mid-range for a more playful feel, and a firmer top end that delivers the car’s full torque as the pedal nears the floor.

What’s Missing: A UK Price

Kia has confirmed the cars are built and on sale in mainland Europe now, but UK pricing and specification are still to come. That leaves buyers unable to compare the new trio directly against rivals such as the Ford Explorer or the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX on cost, even with the full spec sheet already public. Kia’s own EV6 GT, the closest existing car in the range, starts above £60,000 in the UK, giving an early indication of where the new models are likely to land once pricing follows.
