Bentley Makes the Fastest, Most Powerful Torcal Its Launch Special

Bentley has built a First Edition version of its new Torcal grand tourer, and rather than holding back the car’s best engine for later, the Crewe firm has put the range-topping powertrain in the launch car buyers see first. The First Edition bundles together options that would otherwise be picked individually, covering exterior styling, cabin trim and in-car sound in a single specification built to mark the Torcal’s arrival. For a buyer who wants the quickest version of the car without working through Bentley’s full options list trim by trim, the First Edition does that sorting in advance.

The Numbers Behind the First Edition

The First Edition comes exclusively with the most powerful Torcal powertrain, producing 888 PS and 1,350 Nm of torque. Bentley quotes 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h), figures that put the Torcal among the quickest cars the brand builds. Bentley has not released UK pricing for the First Edition, and the firm typically confirms figures closer to first deliveries.

A More Aggressive Look Outside

The First Edition rides on unique 22-inch wheels finished in gloss black with Liquid Silver spokes and self-levelling Bentley badges that stay upright regardless of wheel rotation. Graphene Grey brake calipers from Bentley’s in-house coachbuilder Mulliner sit behind the wheels, offering a quieter contrast than the brighter calipers often fitted to performance cars. The Carbon Fibre Styling Specification adds carbon front bumper winglets, mirror caps, side sills and a rear diffuser, while a First Edition badge on the front fender marks the car out from the standard Torcal range.

Inside the Cabin

Bentley has given the First Edition custom seat quilting with contrasting chevron stitching and illuminated First Edition treadplates. Buyers can pick from the brand’s Colour Specification, which adds extra colour splits, including two developed by Mulliner, eight accent colours and the option of a third interior colour alongside full leather trim and contrast stitching. Gloss Carbon Fibre trim comes as standard, matching the car’s exterior styling pack, though buyers can swap to an alternative finish at no extra cost.

Deep-pile overmats, Wellness front seats and a Rear Comfort Seat Specification with ventilation and heated headrests for outer rear-seat passengers round out the cabin. Two newer Torcal features also come fitted as standard on the First Edition: powered front and rear doors, and a Frosted Diamond Switchable Sunroof that can be set to clear or frosted at the touch of a button.

Sound and Comfort Technology

The First Edition carries Bentley’s Naim for Bentley audio system as standard, rated at 1,780 watts across 28 speakers. The setup combines seat-mounted transducers that let occupants feel bass through the cushion, front headrest speakers and Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround processing, built to fill the whole cabin with sound rather than aim speakers at a single listening position. Bentley describes the audio system as the final piece of the First Edition package, rounding out a specification the company built around performance, styling and craftsmanship rather than any single standout feature.

Where the Torcal Sits in Bentley’s Range

Bentley builds five model lines in Crewe: the Continental GT, Continental GT Convertible, Flying Spur, Bentayga and Bentayga EWB, alongside the new Torcal. Every one of those cars is designed, engineered and hand-finished in England, a point Bentley leans on heavily when it competes against rivals such as the Aston Martin DB12, Rolls-Royce Spectre and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 for buyers who want performance wrapped in a hand-built cabin rather than a mass-produced one. The Torcal’s 888 PS output and 162 mph top speed put it in range of those rivals on paper, while the First Edition’s styling and audio package aim to set it apart on first impression at the dealership.

Ordering the First Edition

The First Edition joins the range as the opening specification for Torcal buyers, and Bentley retailers are expected to open order books shortly, with full UK pricing and a delivery timeline to follow as the car nears production. Given the scale of equipment bundled in, the First Edition is likely to sit well above the price of a standard Torcal once figures are confirmed, in line with how Bentley has priced launch specifications on past models such as the Continental GT and Bentayga.
