Hyundai Auto Canada today celebrated a major milestone for its high‑performance N Brand with the national premiere of the all‑new IONIQ 6 N at the 2026 Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS). Revealed during Hyundai’s press conference in Toronto, the IONIQ 6 N represents the next evolution of Hyundai N’s electrified performance strategy, combining track‑inspired capability with everyday usability.

Building on the technical achievements of the acclaimed IONIQ 5 N, the IONIQ 6 N delivers an even more distinct N-focused design and a plethora of advanced features for heightened precision and engagement. Specifically optimized for high-intensity driving, it integrates newly developed hardware and intelligent software to ensure peak capability, control, and endurance on circuit.

Key technical innovations include a fully redesigned suspension geometry for superior handling, an enhanced N e-Shift (virtual gear shift) system with shorter gear ratios, and a refined N Active Sound + system achieved through upgraded hardware and meticulous acoustic tuning — all contributing to a more engaging and immersive driving experience.

The Canadian debut of IONIQ 6 N marks a natural evolution from Hyundai’s performance‑EV journey in Toronto, following the reveal of the RN22e concept at the Canadian International Auto Show in 2023

“The arrival of IONIQ 6 N in Canada is a clear signal of Hyundai’s confidence in the growth of the N Brand and the appetite for high‑performance electrified vehicles,” said Michael Ricciuto, director of product and corporate strategy at Hyundai Auto Canada. “N has become a key pillar of our brand identity, driven by motorsport‑inspired engineering, bold design, and a relentless focus on the driver. IONIQ 6 N takes those values to new territory.”

N Brand Momentum Continues to Build

Since its inception, Hyundai’s N Brand has experienced steady growth in Canada and globally, fueled by a diverse portfolio of performance vehicles that span internal combustion and fully electric powertrains. The introduction of IONIQ 6 N follows the successful expansion of N‑badged models and reinforces Hyundai’s long‑term vision for high‑performance electrification.

Since the Canadian launch of the first N vehicle in 2019, Hyundai has sold over 6,800 N vehicles in Canada, and the community continues to grow rapidly. From local meetups and track days to online forums and social media groups, the Canadian N community is more vibrant and engaged than ever.

CRATER Concept Returns to the Canadian Stage

Also featured on Hyundai’s CIAS stand is the CRATER Concept, which made its national debut earlier this year at the Montreal Auto Show and now continues its Canadian tour in Toronto.

The CRATER Concept is a futuristic, all-electric off-road SUV designed at Hyundai America Technical Center in Irvine, California. It is a design exploration that captures the spirit of adventure, pushing boundaries of toughness and capability to meet the desires of North American adventurers.

Key design highlights of the Crater Concept include:

  • “Art of Steel Design Language” – Sculpted fenders, steep approach and departure angles, and a monocoque body for agility and strength.
  • Electrified Performance – CRATER is fully electric, signaling Hyundai’s commitment to sustainable mobility without compromising off-road capability.
  • North American Inspiration – Developed to reflect the spirit of exploration and versatility demanded by Canadian and U.S. customers.

Crater Concept Interior Highlights:

  • CRATER MAN – a symbolic character integrated throughout the vehicle, offering playful storytelling through ‘hidden surprises’ and interactive design elements
  • Removable Bluetooth centre console main speaker
  • Hidden aperture light at the dashboard edge revealing a playful light signature
  • Easy-to-reach cylinder-type center controls mechanically linked to visual indicator lights

At CIAS, Hyundai Auto Canada also made a separate announcement related to Hyundai Hope On Wheels, reaffirming the company’s long‑standing commitment to supporting pediatric cancer research and care in communities across the country.
