  • Kia’s total sales in August reached 83,007 units, up 10.4 percent year-over-year
  • Year to date total sales are up 8.6 percent, driven by a 10.3 percent increase in sales at Kia dealerships
  • EV9 and Sportage achieved best-ever monthly sales

Kia America delivered total sales of 83,007 units in August, setting a new best-ever monthly record. The record-setting performance represents 10.4 percent increase over the same period last year and marks the second time ever that Kia surpassed 80,000 units in a single month. Year-to-date total sales increased 8.6 percent compared to the same period last year, with retail sales growing 10.3 percent.

Notably, the Kia EV9 achieved sales of 2,679 units in August, marking a 54 percent increase compared to the previous month. The EV6 and Niro EV also posted month-over-month growth of 39 percent and 57 percent, respectively, extending Kia’s streak of strong EV sales for the fourth consecutive month.

Key models including Carnival (+29 percent); Telluride (+19 percent); Sportage (+19 percent); K5 (+13 percent); and EV9 (+12 percent), each posted significant sales increases over the same period last year. The EV9 and Sportage achieved best-ever performances, helping drive Kia’s SUVs to their highest-ever monthly sales.

“Kia delivered another sales milestone by recording more than 83,000 sales in a single month – our best-ever monthly sales result – keeping us firmly on track to achieve our third consecutive annual sales record and our highest ever market share,” said Eric Watson, vice-president, sales operations, Kia America. “Sales of Kia’s sedans, SUVs and electrified models are generating double-digit growth, and coupled with Kia’s 10 percent increase in retail sales, these are clear indicators of the strength of the Kia brand and how our diverse product offerings continue to meet customer needs.”

In addition to the monthly sales performance, Kia America also made additional announcements, including:

  • 2025 all-electric Kia EV9 has received top honors in the 2025 J.D. Power U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study as with the Mass Market award winner for “One-Pedal Driving” in the Electric Vehicle (EV) advanced technology category, highlighting Kia’s commitment to innovation and excellence in EV technology.
  • Earlier this month, Kia hosted more than 30 automotive and lifestyle journalists in Louisville, KY, for testing the updated 2026 Kia Sportage compact SUV in and around the birthplace of Muhammad Ali.  With extensive enhancements in design, innovation, technology and convenience – and as Kia’s longest running nameplate – the Sportage model range underwent significant changes since the fifth-generation model launched more than three years ago. The media drive experience in and around Louisville was focused on the efficient yet powerful Turbo Hybrid model.
  • The 2025 Carnival MPV and 2025 Telluride SUV each received 2025 Winter Vehicle Awards from the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA). This is the fourth time Telluride has won a Winter Vehicle Award from the automotive media group, including three class wins for midsize SUV (2021, 2024, 2025) and an overall win for Winter SUV of the Year in 2020. This is the first class win in the minivan category for the Carnival.
