  • Nissan built a 40th-anniversary Special Edition of the 2027 Pathfinder, priced from $47,390 with front-wheel drive or $49,390 with all-wheel drive, inside a lineup that starts at $39,990.
  • The Special Edition adds black 20-inch wheels, a panoramic moonroof, second-row captain’s chairs, a 12-speaker Bose stereo and a tow hitch that raises towing capacity to a class-leading 6,000 pounds.
  • Every 2027 Pathfinder comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, and the lineup carries a 2026 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.

What $7,400 Buys You Over the Base Pathfinder

Nissan priced the 2027 Pathfinder lineup from $39,990 and added a new Special Edition trim to mark 40 years of the nameplate, with pricing starting at $47,390 for front-wheel drive and $49,390 for Intelligent AWD. The special trim reaches dealerships in November alongside the rest of the 2027 range, giving shoppers a heritage-themed option right as Nissan pushes Pathfinder through one of its strongest sales stretches in years.

Heritage Styling, Modern Equipment

The Special Edition borrows its color scheme from the original: a two-tone black-and-burgundy interior references the burgundy cloth seats Nissan used in the first-generation Pathfinder in 1987, and red exterior trim runs across the car, including PATHFINDER lettering on the tailgate. Buyers also get equipment that isn’t standard lower in the range: black 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic moonroof, second-row captain’s chairs, rear door sunshades and a 12-speaker Bose stereo. A tow hitch receiver pushes the car’s towing capacity to 6,000 pounds, which Nissan calls class-leading for the segment.

Pricing Across the Range

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices for the 2027 Nissan Pathfinder, before a $1,575 destination and handling charge:

  • Pathfinder SV FWD: $39,990
  • Pathfinder SL FWD: $42,790
  • Pathfinder Special Edition FWD: $47,390
  • Pathfinder Platinum FWD: $49,890
  • Pathfinder SV 4WD: $41,990
  • Pathfinder SL 4WD: $44,790
  • Pathfinder Rock Creek 4WD: $45,390
  • Pathfinder Special Edition 4WD: $49,390
  • Pathfinder Platinum 4WD: $51,890

Room for the Whole Family

Pathfinder offers 16.6 cubic feet of cargo room behind the third row, expanding to 80.5 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded flat. Nissan’s LATCH AND GLIDE system lets the second-row seats tip and slide forward even with a child seat still installed, a detail aimed at parents who move kids in and out of the third row several times a day rather than once a year on a road trip.

The Rest of the 2027 Pathfinder

Every 2027 Pathfinder runs a 3.5-liter V6 making 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Standard towing capacity is 3,500 pounds, rising to 6,000 pounds with the right configuration. The lineup seats up to eight across three rows, or seven with the optional second-row captain’s chairs, and every trim gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus multiple USB-C ports spread through all three rows.

Nissan’s Rock Creek trim stays in the lineup for buyers who want to leave the pavement, with all-terrain tires and off-road-tuned suspension. The Pathfinder also carries a 2026 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and was named a “Best New Vehicle for Teens” by IIHS and Consumer Reports, credentials Nissan is keen to repeat on the new Special Edition and across the range.

Why Nissan Is Leaning on 40 Years of History Right Now

Nissan picked a good moment to lean on Pathfinder’s history. The brand says Pathfinder delivered its best-ever quarterly volume in the second quarter of 2026, then passed 2 million US sales in September. Nissan’s third-quarter retail sales rose 6.8%, and the company says it has now logged 19 straight months of year-over-year sales growth, calling itself the fastest-growing mainstream brand in the US for 13 consecutive months. Pathfinder has been built at Nissan’s Smyrna, Tennessee plant from 2004 onward, and the brand says vehicles built in its US factories made up close to 60% of combined Nissan and Infiniti sales through September, on course for 80% by 2030.

For buyers cross-shopping the segment, the Special Edition sits in a gap between the mid-range SL and the range-topping Platinum, undercutting Platinum by roughly $2,500 while adding most of the equipment people notice day to day: bigger wheels, a better stereo, extra captain’s chairs. The plainer SV and SL trims stay the value picks for buyers who care more about the sticker price than the heritage styling. Nine out of every 10 Pathfinders Nissan sold over the last decade are reportedly still on the road, a figure the brand points to as proof the model holds up over time rather than just at the point of sale.

Pathfinder competes against the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and Kia Telluride, all three-row family SUVs that get refreshed or redesigned often enough that a 40-year run counts for something on its own. Nissan is betting that buyers shopping this segment on towing capacity and family-friendly features will put the Special Edition’s retro styling and extra equipment ahead of a straight price comparison with the base SV.
