2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee Adds Upland Trim, Starts at $41,515

A New Trim Fills the Gap Below Trailhawk

Jeep is adding a Laredo Upland trim to the 2027 Grand Cherokee lineup, giving buyers off-road looks without the price of a full Trailhawk. Orders open now, with cars reaching dealerships in late 2026. Pricing across the range runs from $41,515 for the entry-level Laredo to $57,895 for the Overland, both figures including a $1,995 destination charge.

Stellantis builds the Grand Cherokee at two Michigan plants: the Detroit Assembly Complex Mack facility and the Detroit Assembly Complex Jefferson facility. Jeep calls the Grand Cherokee its top-selling nameplate and the biggest volume driver for the Stellantis lineup as a whole.

The Laredo Upland starts at $49,990 and pairs 18-inch Trailhawk-inspired wheels with 265/60R18 all-terrain tires. Jeep gives the trim a Trailhawk-style front fascia, Vapor Gray tow hooks, a body-color painted roof and dark neutral gray exterior trim. Inside, Capri leatherette and suede seats come finished in Global Black. Buyers who want genuine off-road hardware but not the full Trailhawk price tag now have a middle option.

Bigger Screens and New Wheels for 2027

The base Laredo and Laredo X trims swap their 8.4-inch touchscreen for a 10.1-inch unit as standard equipment, closing a gap that put entry Grand Cherokees behind rivals on screen size. Both trims also pick up a new 18-inch wheel design, and the Laredo Altitude gets its own new 18-inch wheel pattern.

At the top of the range, the Limited trim adds a new 20-inch wheel design plus a wireless charging pad and rain-sensing wipers as standard. Limited Reserve buyers also get automatic, power-folding mirrors. None of these changes touch pricing on the Limited trim itself; Jeep is adding equipment rather than removing it.

Powertrains and Off-Road Numbers Stay Put

Jeep carries over its two-engine strategy for 2027. A 3.6-liter V6 remains standard on the Laredo and Laredo X, while a 2.0-liter Hurricane turbocharged four-cylinder powers the Laredo Altitude and every trim above it. Jeep has not announced a hybrid or electric Grand Cherokee variant for the 2027 model year.

Jeep says the Grand Cherokee holds class-leading numbers in several off-road categories: 11.4 inches of ground clearance, a 36-degree approach angle, a 24.4-degree breakover angle and a 30.3-degree departure angle. Approach and departure angles determine how steep a slope the front and rear bumpers can clear without scraping, while breakover angle covers the risk of the undercarriage hanging up on a ridge or rock. Properly equipped models can tow up to 6,200 pounds, a figure owners hauling boats, trailers or campers will care about far more than daily commuters do.

How the Price Stacks Up Against Rivals

At $41,515, the entry-level 2027 Grand Cherokee lands above its closest three-row and off-road-focused rivals. The 2026 Kia Telluride starts at $39,190, the 2026 Ford Explorer starts at $40,160 including destination, and the 2026 Toyota 4Runner starts at $41,570, putting the Jeep within a few hundred dollars of the 4Runner and roughly $2,300 above the Telluride.

The gap makes more sense for shoppers cross-shopping off-road capability rather than raw seating count. The Telluride and Explorer both prioritize third-row space over trail hardware, while the 4Runner and the new Grand Cherokee Upland trim compete more directly on ground clearance, approach angle and all-terrain tires. Buyers who want genuine off-road equipment without stepping up to the $54,995 Trailhawk now have the $49,990 Upland as a middle option, a slot none of the three named rivals fill in quite the same way.

New Colors and the Full Trim Lineup

Jeep adds High Gloss Black and Sting Gray to the paint chart immediately, with six more colors arriving later in the model year: Ghost, Red Hot, Olive Green, Midnight Sky, Ember and Red Rock. Bright White, Steel Blue, Copper Shino and Fathom Blue carry over from the outgoing lineup. Inside, Wicker Beige joins as a new interior color for the Laredo trim, alongside the existing Global Black and Tupelo/Black options on the Summit.

The full 2027 trim lineup runs Laredo, Laredo X, Laredo Altitude, the new Laredo Upland, Limited, Limited Altitude, Limited Reserve, Trailhawk, Overland and Summit, ten trims in total spanning entry-level SUVs through the range-topping Summit. Jeep lists both Trailhawk and Overland as late-availability trims, so buyers who want the most capable off-road versions should expect a longer wait than those ordering a Laredo or Limited. Dealers can still take orders for every trim now, even where delivery timing differs.

For shoppers cross-checking price against trim, the four confirmed starting points are $41,515 for the entry Grand Cherokee, $49,990 for the new Upland, $54,995 for the Trailhawk and $57,895 for the Overland. Jeep has not yet published pricing for the Laredo X, Laredo Altitude, Limited, Limited Altitude, Limited Reserve or Summit trims, so buyers targeting the middle of the lineup should expect dealer-specific figures closer to the late 2026 on-sale date.
