Tesla Australia cuts its prices to new lows

Tesla Australia has cut pricing across its EV range – making the Model 3 sedan and Model Y potentially cheaper than they’ve ever been.   

Today’s $3900 base price cuts bring the Model 3 RWD sedan down to $57,400 before on-road costs, while the Model Y RWD SUV now retails for $65,400 before on-roads.

This brings the Model Y below the price threshold for rebates in NSW ($3500 and stamp duty exemption), Queensland ($6000), Western Australia ($3500) and South Australia ($3500) for the first time, joining the Model 3.

Victoria recently axed its $3000 rebate so no luck there, we’re afraid.

Model 3:

All prices are before on-road costs and incentives.

The latest price sharpening from Tesla is bound to push EV sales even higher than their current record position – market share of 7.0 per cent this year – given Tesla is far and away the dominant player in the market.

Remarkably, the Tesla Model 3 is Australia’s biggest-selling passenger car this year (10,117 to the end of March) while the Model Y was the market’s overall top-selling SUV in May.
