How to spend $90,000 on a Suzuki Jimny

What happens when you take an off-roader known for its affordable, simple approach to life and make it very expensive, and more complicated?

Simple – you get the Twisted Suzuki Jimny.

Twisted is known for overhauling Land Rover Defenders, but it has recently turned its attention to the Jimny. Announced in April, the first of its overhauled Suzukis is now ready for public consumption.

Inside, the standard cloth trim has been subbed out for two-tone leather. The seats are finished with a quilted effect, while all the major touch points are finished in expensive-looking hide – even the floor mats have been overhauled.

The standard air-conditioning controls are now padded, while the headliner can be specced with Alcantara trim.

Under the skin, there’s extra sound deadening on hand to improve refinement on the move.

Suzuki’s stock infotainment system has been subbed out for an Alpine unit, and the audio system has been reworked to pack more of a punch.

On the outside, the car has been treated to a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels, smoked lights, and a roof rack with a built-in light bar. The front bumper is a unique unit with support for a winch.

There are new gas shock absorbers, along with a rear anti-roll bar as part of Twisted’s handling pack – a one-inch lift kit is optional in the conversion.

Twisted has even given attention to the Jimny’s engine. You’re able to have the 1.5-litre engine boosted with a turbocharger for 123kW of power, up from the stock 75kW.

All of this extra kit doesn’t come cheap. In the UK, the Twisted Jimny you see here retails for the equivalent of $90,000 – similar money to a new Jeep Wrangler in Australia.
