BYD Reveals Prowess With New EV Supercar
BYD, which stands for “Build Your Dreams,” is more than just another electric vehicle brand. It is China’s answer to the world when it comes to prowess and excellence in manufacturing world-class electric cars. In fact, BYD has become the world’s largest-selling pure electric passenger vehicle manufacturer, successfully outpacing Tesla as the global leader in EV sales.
The rise of BYD has been so dominant and successful, especially in the last couple of years, that several renowned pure EV makers, such as Hyundai, Nissan, and Geely Motors, pale in comparison when it comes to car sales figures.
Tesla Outpaced by BYD
Recently, the New York Times reported that Tesla failed to meet Wall Street’s sales expectations. This development puts the onus on BYD to continue driving EV sales, even as the global demand for electric vehicles has been experiencing a downturn.
Despite these challenges, BYD has marked yet another impressive achievement that is worth paying attention to.
BYD’s Game-Changing EV Offering
Most recently, BYD announced that the 9000th new energy vehicle from the group rolled off the line at the company’s Shensan plant. This off-line model is a high-performance “Battery Electric Vehicle” supercar known as the Yangwang U9.
Deliveries of this one-of-a-kind BYD supercar began in August 2024 and will be launched in the passenger market under the Chinese firm’s luxury EV car segment.
The Yangwang Brand
It’s noteworthy that BYD’s luxury brand segment is called “YANGWANG,” and the 9000th new energy all-electric Chinese EV is known as the YANGWANG U9.
To manufacture the YANGWANG U9, BYD set up a first-of-its-kind factory in Shenzhen specifically designed to cater to new energy supercars in the region. The electric vehicle features the world’s largest single carbon cabin.
To ensure the smooth production of a car marked by exceptional high performance and utmost quality, BYD has gone to the extent of hiring highly skilled and experienced factory production staff to create the sophisticated carbon cabins.
Specific Details
BYD aims to achieve precise assembly of every single vehicle and promote what is called the “smartization” of all assembly processes.
The YANGWANG U9 utilizes a new generation four-wheel drive platform called the “e4 platform” and a brand new generation suspension system known as the “DiSus Intelligent Body Control System.”
From a sales perspective, BYD sold over 1,600,000 units in the first half of 2024, with a quarter of the year still remaining.
When it comes to expanding China’s presence in electric vehicles, BYD is not just building dreams but transforming them through its penchant for peerless design and pathbreaking engineering.
