A Pricier Camry Alternative Adds Standard Gear for 2027

Toyota is carrying the Crown Signia into its third model year with a short but useful list of changes: features that buyers previously had to pay extra for on the Limited grade now come fitted as standard. The 2027 Crown Signia starts at $44,890 for the XLE grade and $51,155 for the Limited grade, both figures before the delivery, processing and handling fee, and Toyota expects cars to reach dealerships later this year.

What Moved From Optional to Standard

Limited grade buyers no longer need to tick the Advanced Technology Package to get a Panoramic View Monitor, Lane Change Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert and Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking. The outer mirrors also gain puddle lights and a reverse tilt-down feature as standard. Toyota pairs the equipment change with a new exterior color, Inked, which replaces black on the options sheet.

Hybrid Power and All-Wheel Drive

Both grades keep the same drivetrain: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine paired with electronic On-Demand All Wheel Drive, which uses a rear-mounted electric motor rather than a mechanical transfer case to send power to the rear wheels in corners or on slippery roads. The combination produces 238 total system horsepower and an EPA-estimated 38 mpg combined, figures that put the Crown Signia ahead of most traditional SUVs its size at the pump while still offering all-wheel drive as standard rather than a paid option.

Cabin Space and Everyday Comfort

Inside, both grades seat five under a 60/40 fold-flat second row that opens up a 6.5-foot-long cargo area and more than 68 cubic feet of storage with the seats down, space aimed at buyers who want SUV practicality without a third row they rarely use. Standard kit across both grades includes leather-trimmed, heated and ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen running Toyota Audio Multimedia with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which bundles pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control and lane tracing assist. The Limited grade adds a fixed glass panoramic roof, an 11-speaker JBL sound system with subwoofer, a digital rearview mirror and rain-sensing wipers, along with 21-inch wheels in place of the XLE’s 19-inch set and the option of two-tone paint pairing a black roof with colors including Finish Line Red or Oxygen White.

Warranty, Ownership Costs and the Competition

Every 2027 Crown Signia carries Toyota’s 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty and 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain cover, with hybrid components protected for 8 years or 100,000 miles and the hybrid battery itself covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles. Toyota also includes ToyotaCare, which pays for scheduled maintenance in the first year or 10,000 miles and covers two years of roadside assistance regardless of mileage. Buyers also get five-year trials of Toyota’s Safety Connect, Service Connect and Remote Connect services, plus a 30-day or 3GB trial of Wi-Fi Connect, though continued use after the trial period runs on a paid subscription and depends on 4G network coverage.

The changes keep the Crown Signia positioned as the practical half of Toyota’s Crown lineup: less overtly styled than the Crown sedan sold overseas, but built around the hybrid AWD system, cargo room and now a longer standard features list that buyers shopping mid-size hybrid SUVs will want to compare line for line against rivals from Honda, Subaru and Toyota’s own RAV4 range.

At $44,890 to start, the Crown Signia sits above a RAV4 Hybrid but below Toyota’s own three-row Grand Highlander Hybrid Max, carving out a lane for buyers who want standard all-wheel drive and a car-like driving position without paying for a third row they won’t use. The 38 mpg combined rating beats most gas-only mid-size SUVs by a wide margin and lands close to what buyers get from the Honda CR-V Hybrid, though the Crown Signia counters with more standard luxury kit, including leather trim and heated seats on every grade rather than reserving them for a top trim.

The exterior color combinations available on the Limited grade, several pairing a black roof with a contrasting body color, give the Crown Signia a visual identity distinct from the rest of Toyota’s SUV lineup, a point Toyota has leaned on to separate it from the cheaper RAV4 it shares hybrid hardware with. That shared hardware, carried over from the closely related Camry and RAV4, gives the Crown Signia a parts and service network that’s already well established across Toyota’s dealer base, a practical advantage over newer rivals still building out their own hybrid supply chains.
