  • The 2027 BMW F 450 RR is a new entry-level supersport motorcycle, launching in the US next summer priced from $7,815 before destination charges.
  • Its 420cc parallel-twin engine makes 48 horsepower and 32 lb-ft of torque, with an unusual 135-degree crankpin offset for a distinctive exhaust note.
  • Standard equipment includes a 6.5-inch TFT display, heated grips, ABS Pro and Dynamic Traction Control, with an optional clutch-free Easy Ride Clutch available.

A Smaller Badge on a Familiar Shape

BMW Motorrad has a new entry point into its supersport motorcycle range. The 2027 BMW F 450 RR borrows the styling language of the flagship S 1000 RR and shrinks it onto a lightweight parallel-twin platform, arriving in US dealers next summer priced from $7,815.

A Smaller Engine With the Same DNA

The F 450 RR runs a newly developed 420cc parallel-twin engine producing 48 horsepower at 8,750rpm and 32 lb-ft of torque at 6,750rpm. BMW says 80% of that peak torque arrives by just 3,000rpm, a figure that counts for more in everyday riding than the headline power number: it means the bike pulls cleanly out of corners and away from traffic lights without needing to be worked hard through the gears first.

The engine’s crankshaft uses a 135-degree crankpin offset, an unusual layout for a parallel twin that BMW says gives the F 450 RR a distinct, uneven-firing exhaust note, reinforced by a stainless-steel under-belly exhaust that also keeps the mass low and central. A counter-rotating balance shaft keeps vibration down even with the unconventional crank layout.

What Comes Standard, and What Riders Can Add

Every F 450 RR ships with a six-speed manual gearbox, Dynamic Traction Control, a 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, heated grips, a USB-C port and full-LED lighting. The display pairs with a phone and a compatible helmet headset to handle calls and music without an app, and BMW throws in basic turn-by-turn navigation through its free Motorrad Connected App, a feature that would normally need an aftermarket mount and a phone propped on the handlebars. The chassis itself is a tubular steel space-frame design with the engine mounted as a load-bearing component, a construction method chosen for rigidity rather than cost, paired with an upside-down KYB front fork and an aluminium swingarm at the rear. BMW quotes a wheelbase of 55.3 inches and a steering-head angle of 23.4 degrees, numbers tuned for quick direction changes on a twisting road rather than outright high-speed stability.

For the US market, BMW is launching a single M Sport variant that layers on Shift Assistant Pro, letting riders change gear without touching the clutch lever, along with “Rain,” “Road” and “Race” riding modes and BMW’s lean-sensitive ABS Pro braking system. An optional Easy Ride Clutch, part of a $330 Innovation Package, removes the clutch lever from the equation almost entirely: a centrifugal unit inside the clutch engages automatically based on engine speed, so the bike can be ridden in traffic without a clutch hand at all while still behaving like a normal motorcycle on faster roads.

A reversible shift pattern is also standard, letting riders switch from the usual first-gear-down layout to a first-gear-up “GP” pattern more commonly used on the racetrack.

Braking and Handling for a Supersport Price Point

Braking comes from a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper gripping a 310mm front disc, with a smaller ByBre caliper and 240mm disc at the rear. BMW’s Dynamic Brake Control, standard across the range, stops the throttle from opening if a rider accidentally applies gas while braking hard, a scenario that can unsettle a lightweight bike mid-corner.

At 392 pounds dry and with a seat height of 31.1 inches, the F 450 RR sits in the approachable end of the supersport category rather than competing on outright power with larger-displacement rivals. That category in the US has mostly belonged to smaller Japanese twins up to now; a BMW badge and RR styling at this price point is a new combination for American buyers rather than a crowded space BMW is simply joining. BMW quotes a 0-62mph time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 110mph, figures aimed squarely at new and returning riders rather than track specialists, backed by a WMTC fuel economy figure of 61.9mpg.

Pricing and What’s Included

The F 450 RR M Sport carries an MSRP of $7,815 before the $1,495 destination charge, landing it well under most of BMW’s larger RR-badged bikes while still carrying the family’s styling cues: the nose-down stance, the split headlight face and the side gills borrowed from the S 1000 RR.

Every 2027 and 2028 model-year BMW motorcycle, the F 450 RR included, comes with a complimentary “600-Mile Service” included in the price, which has to be booked within six months of the bike going into service or before it reaches 750 miles, whichever happens first. It’s a detail new riders will appreciate: it removes the cost of the first scheduled service from the ownership calculation before a single accessory gets added.

Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW Motorrad, said the new bike was built to feel “light, direct, and precise,” while still carrying the “DNA of our RR models,” pitching it as a deliberate entry point into that family rather than a cut-down version of it. For riders priced out of a full-size supersport bike but unwilling to give up the badge or the riding position, the F 450 RR is BMW’s answer at just under $8,000.
