Three separate vehicle recalls registered with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency this month cover a combined total of more than 41,000 cars on UK roads. The affected vehicles range from a small city car to a premium electric SUV, and the faults identified range from a missing software warning to a brake failure risk serious enough to prevent a car from stopping. If you own a Vauxhall Corsa built in the last two years, a Hyundai i10 from 2021 to 2023, or an Audi e-tron or Q8 e-tron from 2019 onwards, you should check whether your vehicle is included.

All three recalls are free to fix. Owners do not need to stop driving their vehicle immediately in most cases, but the DVSA advises contacting your dealer as soon as you confirm your car is affected to arrange a remedy appointment. Ignoring a recall notice does not remove legal liability if a fault causes an accident, and some insurers can use an outstanding recall as grounds to complicate a claim.

Vauxhall Corsa F: The Lane-Keeping Warning That Was Never Installed

Recall reference R/2026/182 covers 16,348 Vauxhall Corsa F models produced between April 2024 and April 2025. The fault involves the Body Control Module, the central electronic unit that manages a range of vehicle functions including exterior lighting, central locking and driver assistance features. On the affected cars, the BCM was supplied without the software component responsible for generating the warning alert that should activate when the Lane Keep Assist system detects the car drifting across lane markings without an indicator signal.

The consequence is that Lane Keep Assist operates silently in a way that may not be apparent to the driver. The system may still apply steering corrections when it detects lane departure, but without the accompanying audible or visual alert, drivers are not informed that an intervention has occurred. In normal motorway driving this may not cause an incident, but drivers who rely on the alert to understand why the car has briefly corrected its course may be unaware that the LKA system has acted.

Vauxhall’s remedy is a software update to the BCM, which restores the missing warning function. The update is applied at a dealership and requires no physical component replacement. Vauxhall estimates the work takes less than an hour. Owners of affected Corsas will receive a letter from Vauxhall, but the DVSA advises that you can check your vehicle’s registration against the recall database at gov.uk/check-vehicle-recalls without waiting for the letter to arrive.

Hyundai i10: The Fuel Pump Fault That Can Cut Engine Power Without Warning

Recall reference R/2026/093 covers 13,610 Hyundai i10 models produced between November 2021 and April 2023. The fault is in the low-pressure fuel pump, a component that draws fuel from the tank and supplies it to the high-pressure pump feeding the engine. On affected cars, the fuel pump impeller — the rotating internal component that creates fuel flow — may have been manufactured to a tolerance that causes it to degrade over time, leading to reduced fuel delivery and ultimately to loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion.

The DVSA’s recall notice describes the risk in straightforward terms: the engine may stall unexpectedly, leaving the driver without power on the road. For a city car like the i10, which is primarily used for short urban journeys, an unexpected stall at a junction or roundabout creates obvious safety risks. The fuel pump fault does not give reliable advance warning — the car may run normally for months before the impeller deteriorates to the point of failure.

Hyundai’s remedy is a fuel pump replacement. Unlike the Vauxhall software update, this is a physical repair that requires the car to be at the dealership for a longer period — typically a full day depending on parts availability. Hyundai has confirmed that replacement parts are available for the recall and that owners will not be left without transport during the repair if a courtesy car is requested in advance.

Owners of i10 models in the affected production window should pay particular attention to any symptoms that might indicate early-stage fuel pump degradation: rough idling at low speeds, hesitation when accelerating from standstill, or a momentary cut in engine power during normal driving. These symptoms do not confirm the recall fault, but they are consistent with it and should prompt an immediate dealer appointment rather than waiting for a recall letter.

Audi e-tron and Q8 e-tron: A Brake Fault That Could Prevent the Car From Stopping

The most serious of the three recalls in terms of potential consequence is reference R/2026/168, covering 11,327 Audi e-tron and Q8 e-tron electric vehicles produced between May 2019 and May 2024. The fault involves the brake servo — the power assistance system that amplifies the force applied to the brake pedal, making it possible to achieve effective braking with normal pedal effort. On affected vehicles, a bolt connecting the brake servo push rod to the brake pedal assembly may not have been tightened to the correct torque during manufacture.

If the bolt loosens while the car is in use, the connection between the pedal and the servo can fail. The consequence, as stated in the DVSA recall notice, is that the driver may be unable to generate sufficient braking force to stop the vehicle in an emergency. On a large, heavy electric vehicle like the e-tron or Q8 e-tron — both of which weigh significantly more than comparable combustion-engine SUVs due to their battery mass — inadequate braking in an emergency situation is a critical safety risk.

Audi has not issued guidance suggesting owners should stop driving affected vehicles immediately, but it has prioritised the recall remedy for vehicles showing any brake pedal abnormality. Owners who notice increased pedal travel, a pedal that feels unusually soft or spongy, or any change in the effort required to achieve normal braking should take the vehicle out of use and contact an Audi dealer immediately. These symptoms may indicate that the bolt has already partially loosened.

The remedy is a physical inspection and retorquing or replacement of the affected bolt. Audi estimates the work takes approximately one to two hours at a dealership. The manufacturer has confirmed that all affected vehicles in the UK are covered under the recall regardless of whether they are still within the original warranty period or have changed ownership since new.

How to Check Whether Your Vehicle Is Affected

The government’s official vehicle recall checker at gov.uk/check-vehicle-recalls allows any driver to enter their registration number and instantly see whether their car is subject to an outstanding recall. The database is updated as new recalls are registered with the DVSA, and it covers all manufacturers operating in the UK. You do not need to create an account or provide any personal information to use the checker — you simply enter the registration and the result is returned immediately.

It is worth checking the database even if you have not received a recall letter. Manufacturers are required to contact registered keepers, but the contact is made to the address held by the DVLA. If you have moved house and not updated your V5C logbook, or if you bought the car privately and the DVLA records have not been fully transferred, the manufacturer’s letter may go to a previous address. The online database will show your car’s recall status regardless of whether the paperwork has reached you.

If you are considering buying a used car in the Vauxhall Corsa F, Hyundai i10 or Audi e-tron range, check the recall status before purchase. An outstanding recall does not necessarily mean you should not buy the car — but it does mean you should confirm with the seller whether the recall work has been completed, and if not, factor in the time and inconvenience of arranging the repair after purchase. A responsible seller should either have the recall completed before sale or disclose it clearly and reduce the price accordingly.

What Happens If You Ignore a Recall

Vehicle recalls in the UK are not legally mandatory for the vehicle owner to action. Unlike in some other countries, there is no automatic prohibition on driving a car with an outstanding recall. However, the legal and financial consequences of ignoring one can be significant if the underlying fault contributes to an accident.

If a crash occurs and it is established that the vehicle had an outstanding recall that the owner was aware of — and particularly if the fault subject to the recall was a contributing factor in the accident — insurers can use this as grounds to complicate or reduce a claim. In serious cases involving injury or death, the driver’s knowledge of an outstanding safety recall could be relevant to questions of liability. The principle that a driver has a duty to ensure their vehicle is in a roadworthy condition is well established in UK law, and an unactioned safety recall can be cited as evidence that this duty was not met.

All three recalls described here — the Vauxhall Corsa BCM software update, the Hyundai i10 fuel pump replacement, and the Audi e-tron brake bolt inspection — are carried out free of charge by authorised dealers. There is no cost to the vehicle owner for either parts or labour. The only requirement is to contact the manufacturer’s customer service or a dealership, confirm that your specific vehicle is included in the recall, and arrange an appointment at a time that suits you.

If your car is on this list, book in now. The repairs are free, the faults are real, and none of these is worth leaving unresolved.
