2027 Kia EV3 Starts at $29,890 With Up to 321 Miles of Range

Kia has priced the 2027 EV3, a new compact electric SUV, starting at $29,890 before a $1,495 destination charge. That figure makes the EV3 the least expensive EV in Kia’s US lineup, sitting well below the EV6 and EV9 and undercutting most rival electric SUVs on sale today.

The top-range Wind FWD and Land FWD trims reach up to 321 miles on a full charge, and every EV3 gets a built-in NACS charge port, so owners can plug into Tesla Supercharger stations without an adapter. Kia designed the small SUV to pull first-time EV buyers away from gas-powered compacts, borrowing its exterior look from the larger EV9 three-row.

Seven Trims Span Nearly $16,000

Kia will sell the EV3 in seven configurations, and the spread between the cheapest and most expensive version runs close to $16,000. Pricing before destination:

  • EV3 Light FWD: $29,890
  • EV3 Wind FWD: $34,990
  • EV3 Wind AWD: $38,690
  • EV3 Land FWD: $38,490
  • EV3 Land AWD: $41,690
  • EV3 GT-Line AWD: $43,490
  • EV3 GT AWD: $45,890

The base Light FWD trim gives buyers the lowest entry point into the range. Dual-motor all-wheel drive appears on the Wind, Land and GT-Line trims, while the range-topping GT AWD pairs two motors with a 288-horsepower output for the quickest acceleration in the lineup. Kia also offers a Nightfall Package on select trims, which swaps in black exterior accents, 19-inch black wheels, black roof rail crossbars and a dark gray interior.

Charging Speed Depends on the Trim

Range tops out at 321 miles on the Wind FWD and Land FWD versions, the two configurations Kia built around efficiency rather than outright power. Every EV3 can recharge from 10% to 80% using a 350kW DC fast charger, though the timing splits by trim: the base Light finishes in about 29 minutes, while the GT-Line AWD, Wind, Land and GT AWD models take roughly 31 minutes. Kia says frequent fast-charging use can wear down battery health over time and recommends drivers rely on it sparingly rather than as a daily habit.

Cold climates get specific attention. Every EV3 comes with a standard battery heater to protect range and charging speed in winter, and AWD models can add a heat pump, which pulls waste heat back into the cabin instead of drawing power straight from the battery. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are available across the range for drivers who want a warm cabin without running the main heater at full output.

Cabin Tech and Driver Aid Features

Inside, the EV3 packs close to 30 inches of combined digital display space: a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a separate 5-inch climate control screen. Available driver aids include a 360-degree Surround View camera system and a Blind-Spot View Monitor, which shows a live camera feed of the adjacent lane when the driver signals a turn. Kia positions these features as the kind buyers previously had to step up to a larger, pricier SUV to get.

Where the EV3 Lands Against Rivals

The EV3’s $29,890 starting price undercuts two of its closest electric SUV rivals by a wide margin. The Chevrolet Equinox EV starts at $34,995, and the Hyundai Kona Electric starts at $34,470, putting both roughly $4,500 to $5,000 above the EV3’s base trim. That gap gives Kia dealers a clear pitch to shoppers cross-shopping the compact EV segment on sticker price alone.

The price gap counts for more now that federal help has shrunk. The $7,500 federal tax credit for new EVs expired for vehicles bought after September 30, 2025, under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, so most EV3 buyers will pay full sticker price with no purchase credit attached. Some states and utilities still run their own rebate or discounted-charging programs, and terms vary by state, so the size of any remaining savings depends entirely on where a buyer lives and registers the car. Kia’s low base price effectively takes over the job the federal credit used to do: narrowing the cost gap between an EV3 and a comparable gas-powered compact SUV.

Kia builds the EV3 as part of a broader push to sell electric vehicles across nearly 800 US dealers, alongside gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The brand’s EV6 and three-row EV9 sit above the EV3 in size and price, and Kia has positioned the new SUV as the on-ramp for drivers considering an EV for the first time. The EV9-inspired exterior gives the smaller SUV a family resemblance to Kia’s flagship electric model, right down to the boxy proportions and vertical light signature, at roughly half the price of an entry-level EV9.

Kia has not yet confirmed an exact on-sale date for the 2027 EV3, though pricing announcements typically land close to when a model reaches dealer lots. Buyers who want the 321-mile range figure need to stick to the Wind FWD or Land FWD trims specifically. Adding all-wheel drive or stepping up to the GT models trades some range for extra motor output. Full specifications, fuel economy figures and available options are listed on Kia’s media site ahead of the EV3’s arrival at dealerships.
