2027 Kia Sportage Hybrid Starts at $30,590, Plug-In Hybrid From $40,590

Kia America has released pricing on the 2027 Sportage Hybrid and Sportage Plug-In Hybrid, and the hybrid version now costs less to get into than it did last year. The lineup adds front-wheel drive to two hybrid trims for the first time, giving buyers a cheaper way into the model without giving up the hybrid powertrain.

The 2027 Sportage Hybrid starts at $30,590 for the LX FWD trim, and the Plug-In Hybrid opens at $40,590 for the X-Line AWD. Both figures exclude the $1,495 destination charge added at delivery.

Ten Trims, One New Entry Point

Front-wheel drive now reaches the S and EX Sportage Hybrid trims, sitting alongside the existing all-wheel-drive lineup. That change gives buyers a lower-cost path into the hybrid range: the LX FWD starts the lineup at $30,590, the S FWD follows at $31,290, and the EX FWD lands at $32,290. Buyers who want all-wheel drive still have it, with the S AWD at $32,890 and the EX AWD at $33,890. The range tops out with the HEV X-Line AWD at $35,790 and the HEV SX-Prestige AWD at $40,690.

A New Tech Package for the X-Line

Kia adds a Technology Package to the HEV X-Line trim, matching a package already offered on gas-powered Sportage X-Line models. The package brings a 360-degree Surround View camera and Blind-Spot View Monitor, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with built-in maps, Harman-Kardon premium audio, a driver’s memory seat, rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist with side parking sensors, Highway Drive Assist and LED fog lights. Kia positions the package as a way to close the gap between the hybrid trims and the top-spec gas models on equipment, rather than leaving buyers to choose between fuel efficiency and feature content.

2027 Kia Sportage PHEV

The Plug-In Hybrid Carries Over Unchanged

The Sportage PHEV returns for 2027 without changes to its specification, priced at $40,590 for the X-Line AWD and $47,390 for the X-Line Prestige AWD. Both plug-in trims come standard with all-wheel drive, unlike the hybrid range’s new front-wheel-drive options, and both carry the destination charge on top of the listed MSRP. Kia describes the PHEV as a strong seller in the small crossover plug-in hybrid segment, and the unchanged pricing and specification suggest the automaker sees no reason to disturb a model that already competes well against rivals.

Built in Georgia Alongside Existing Models

The 2027 Sportage Hybrid moves to dual-sourced production, adding assembly at Hyundai Motor Group’s Metaplant in Savannah, Georgia, on top of existing manufacturing. Kia already builds the gas-powered Sportage domestically, along with the EV6, EV9, Sorento and Telluride, and the added Georgia line gives the hybrid version the same domestic assembly status. Dual-sourcing a model typically points to strong demand outpacing a single plant’s capacity, and it also gives Kia a buffer if one line runs into a slowdown, so buyers should see more consistent dealer stock of the hybrid trims through the rest of the model year.

The Plug-In Hybrid isn’t part of the Georgia expansion and keeps its existing production arrangement, which lines up with Kia’s decision to leave the PHEV’s price and specification untouched for 2027 while the hybrid gets both a cheaper entry trim and a new equipment package.

Where the Sportage Fits Against Rival Hybrids

Compact hybrid and plug-in hybrid crossovers have become one of the most contested corners of the American market, with buyers cross-shopping the Sportage against rivals like the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and the Honda CR-V Hybrid. On the plug-in side, Kia’s own pricing puts the Sportage PHEV in range of the Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid, which starts lower but offers less cargo and passenger room than a compact crossover. For a buyer cross-shopping the segment, the new FWD Sportage Hybrid trims give Kia a genuine price advantage at the entry point, while the unchanged PHEV pricing keeps the plug-in model positioned where it already sold well last year.

None of Kia’s rival automakers has announced a comparable front-wheel-drive discount on their own compact hybrid lineups this model year, which gives the Sportage HEV a window to pick up buyers who ruled out a hybrid crossover purely on price. The gap between the cheapest Sportage Hybrid at $30,590 and the cheapest Sportage PHEV at $40,590 also gives Kia dealers two distinct pitches under one nameplate: a value-focused hybrid for buyers who mostly drive on gas, and a plug-in model for anyone who can charge at home and wants electric-only trips for short errands.

Buyers should remember that every figure quoted here is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price before the $1,495 destination charge, and before any taxes, title fees or dealer add-ons. Kia’s own materials note that actual transaction prices are set by individual retailers and can move in either direction depending on local demand and available inventory.
