2024 Range Rover Evoque scores tech-heavy upgrades

The updated 2024 Range Rover Evoque has been detailed, ahead of an Australian arrival “expected” from December.

Hot on the heels of the reveal of the related Land Rover Discovery Sport, the refreshed Evoque boasts similar upgrades, including a new 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen with built-in Amazon Alexa, available Pixel LED headlights with matrix technology, a new cabin air quality system, as well as a swish new Autobiography flagship specification.

On sale now, the MY24 Evoque line-up starts from $81,800 for the entry-level P250 Dynamic SE, some $2200 dearer than the current entry point, climbing to $117,300 for the new P300e Autobiography plug-in hybrid flagship – prices exclude on-road costs.

The new Range Rover Evoque is available to order now, with first deliveries expected from December 2023.

What’s New?

Externally the changes are subtle, with a revised grille treatment to align the Evoque with other members in the Range Rover line-up, as well as the new Pixel LED headlights with jewel-like design effect and revised daytime running light graphics.

New exterior colours include Arroios Grey, Tribeca Blue and Corinthian Bronze, with Narvik Black and Corinthian Bronze contrast roof options also available depending on specification.

A total of eight alloy wheel designs up to 21 inches in diameter are available, with five new finishes and diamond-turned options offered on Dynamic HSE and Autobiography versions.

More significant upgrades feature in the cabin, with a revised centre console incorporating Land Rover’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, with a much larger 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen.

Land Rover says the new display is “now situated higher and closer to the driver”, and also liberates more storage space. Wireless smartphone charging is also now standard.

The interface is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and features twin embedded eSIM technology and a cloud-based architecture to facilitate a full range of connected services including Spotify and Deezer, as well as Amazon Alexa integration.

Cabin Air Purification Plus is available for the first time on the Evoque, and is claimed to be “one of the most sophisticated interior air quality technologies in its class”.

Standard on the Autobiography and forming part of the optional Comfort Pack on other models, the new purification system features PM2.5 filtration and CO2 management to “promote wellbeing” and “heighten alertness for the driver” by monitoring and controlling CO2 levels in the cabin.

It also uses nanoe X technology to combat pathogens and “significantly reduce odours, bacteria and allergens”. It also features an Air Quality Index app allows occupants to monitor outside air quality at the vehicle’s location as well as the destination.

Powertrains

The Australian market will continue to offer P250 and P300e versions of the Range Rover Evoque, the former being a four-cylinder 48V mild-hybrid and the latter a three-cylinder plug-in hybrid.

For 2024 the company’s local arm will offer two versions of the P300e plug-in hybrid, with a new Autobiography specification joining the existing Dynamic HSE.

Teaming a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with an 80kW electric motor and 14.9kWh lithium-ion battery, the Evoque P300e boasts a system power output of 309PS (227kW) for a 0-100km/h time of 6.4 seconds.

Claimed EV range is quoted at “up to 66 kilometres” per charge, and the “expected” real-world range has been improved to 48 kilometres thanks to an “updated battery chemistry.

Land Rover quotes a “total real-world range” of up to 651 kilometres for the Evoque P300e, and CO2 emissions of 49g/km of CO2.

The plug-in hybrid is also compatible with DC fast charging, allowing for a replenished battery in as little as 30 minutes.
