Hyundai has officially revealed the updated version of its racy-looking i30 Sedan N Line alongside the high-performance N version in Korea.

All updated i30 Sedan variants are due in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2023, including – for the first time – a hybrid model.

It’s expected the i30 Sedan N Line will continue to be offered locally given the growing popularity of N and N Line vehicles.

Hyundai Australia has yet to detail local pricing and specifications of the updated i30 Sedan range.

In the meantime, Hyundai head office in Korea has published details on the updated i30 Sedan N Line, also known as the Avante N Line and Elantra N Line in other markets. The vehicle had previously been leaked in China in May.

For the first time, the N Line is available as a hybrid.

This petrol-electric hybrid powertrain is the same one used in the related new-gen Kona and the Kia Niro HEV. It mates a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor.

System outputs are 103kW of power and 265Nm of torque, with drive sent to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Hyundai Australia has previously confirmed this hybrid powertrain will be launching with the i30 Sedan update, though it’s unclear if it will be offered in N Line guise locally.

The updated i30 Sedan N Line is also available in Korea with a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with 90kW and 154Nm, as well as a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol-LPG engine with 88kW and 152Nm.

The current Australian-specification i30 Sedan N Line is only available with a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 150kW of power and 265Nm of torque. It’s unclear if this engine will continue to be offered.

Externally, the updated i30 Sedan N Line receives refreshed front and rear bumpers with silver highlights, side skirts, N Line-specific 18-inch alloy wheels, gloss black side mouldings, gloss black lip spoiler, and twin exhaust outlets.

Inside there aren’t anywhere near as many changes. There’s still a leather-wrapped steering wheel with perforations, N Line sports seats with leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped N Line gear selector.

There’s more safety equipment including rear-side airbags, which takes the total amount to eight, plus a surround-view camera and a Blind-Spot View Monitor in the digital instrument cluster.

Other features available in South Korea include Digital Key 2 Touch, which allows you to unlock the car with your iPhone or Apple Watch, as well as USB-C ports and an in-built dashcam.

The updated Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line mirrors the core range in offering nine exterior paint colours in South Korea. These comprise Atlas White, Cyber Grey Metallic, Fluid Grey Metallic, Ecotronic Grey Pearl, Amazon Grey Pearl, Abyss Black Pearl, Meta Blue Pearl, Intense Blue Pearl, and Ultimate Red Metallic.
