2022 Kia Sorento recalled in Australia due to faulty indicators

Kia Australia has recalled 3873 examples of its 2022 Kia Sorento, citing a fault with the large SUV’s indicators.

The recall affects both the standard Sorento and the Kia SUV’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a software issue, the turn indicators may not illuminate as intended.

“If the turn indicators do not illuminate as intended, other road users would be unable to identify if the vehicle is turning. This could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

Kia reported 7889 Sorentos as sold in Australia throughout 2022, with the recall affecting almost half of the vehicles delivered last year.

Kia advises owners of affected vehicles to immediately contact their preferred Kia dealer to schedule an appointment to have the multi-function switch software updated, free of charge.
