Last of the dinosaurs? Ram 1500 TRX dying, after one more special edition

Ram has announced 2023 will mark the end of production for the lairy 1500 TRX.

To send off the beefed-up supercharged V8-powered pickup, Ram will produce a Final Edition model, with only 4000 examples being available worldwide. Production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Ram said this isn’t the end for the “TRX’s story”. That suggests a next-generation model is coming, potentially with some form of electrification.

The 1500 TRX has lived a short lifecycle, only debuting in 2020 and arriving here in 2022.

“This current chapter in Ram’s high-performance trucks is coming to a close, but it’s not the end of TRX’s story. While we’ll have more news to come at a later date, we’re proud to offer our loyal performance enthusiasts the very special TRX 6.2L Supercharged V8 – Final Edition,” said Stellantis Ram brand CEO Tim Kuniskis.

The Final Edition model has no changes to its 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi V8 engine, but does feature some cosmetic tweaks.
