More closely fought than ever, Season 7 of the FIA Formula E World Championship will come to an end with a ‘double header’ this weekend in Berlin

  • Currently 4th in the Teams’ standings, DS TECHEETAH is only 17 points from the top
  • António Félix Da Costa and Jean-Éric Vergne among the candidates for the Drivers’ title

A double Champion in Seasons 5 and 6, DS TECHEETAH is ready to compete in the last two races of Season 7 of the FIA Formula E World Championship that will take place in the Berlin-Templehof circuit next 14 and 15 August.

Like last year, the German capital will host the grand finale of the 100% electric series, on a 2.3 km track that the 24 drivers composing the field will take in one direction on Saturday and in the opposite direction on Sunday.

The prospect is of the like of the DS TECHEETAH team! “It reminds us of the season-closing of last year that saw six races on this same circuit, using different layouts. We conquered both titles and this is clearly what we will be fighting for this year too!”, says Thomas Chevaucher, Director of DS Performance.

After a season marked by top results (5 podium finishes, including 2 wins) but also by some disappointments, António Félix Da Costa, the reigning champion, and Jean-Eric Vergne, the only F.E double champion, are ready to take up the challenge against the most acclaimed constructors in the championship and to fight to bring home two more titles for DS Automobiles. Lying 5th and 12th respectively in the Drivers’ standings, they retain all chances to win the title. The competition is so close, and the gap in points so narrow (15 for A. Félix Da Costa and 27 for J.-E. Vergne), that anything can happen in case of further podium finishes. Thanks to the performance of the two DS E-TENSE FE21, the Teams’ title as well remains within reach, with DS TECHEETAH only 17 points away from the leader (Note: 1 win = 25 points).

Aware of the potential of the four times-crowned team, Thomas Chevaucher is confident ahead of the last two decisive races: “The standings are so tight! We will of course need some success to come our way to win the title, but good luck can be prompted! One thing is sure: only the best can triumph … and we will do everything to be those!”

The two races of the Berlin E-Prix will take place Saturday 14 August (14:00 hrs CEST) and Sunday 15 August 2021 (15:30 hrs CEST).
