What's New for 2027: Jeep® Compass
  • The 2027 Jeep Compass starts at $31,985, including a $1,995 destination charge, and orders are open now.
  • Adaptive cruise control is now standard across the whole lineup, and the Limited, Limited Altitude and Trailhawk trims pick up a wireless charging pad and second-row USB ports as standard equipment.
  • The Limited Altitude trim costs only $995 more than the regular Limited, a smaller gap than last year, for a quicker-steering off-road-styled version of the same SUV.

A Safety Feature That Used to Cost Extra Is Now Free

Jeep has detailed the changes coming to the 2027 Compass, and the biggest one will not show up in a brochure photo: adaptive cruise control, which holds a set following distance from the car ahead and adjusts speed automatically in highway traffic, now comes standard on every trim rather than sitting behind an options package. For a driver who spends real time in stop-and-go commuting, that is the kind of change that shows up on every drive rather than once in a while.

The Limited, Limited Altitude and Trailhawk trims pick up two more small but useful additions: a wireless charging pad up front and USB ports for second-row passengers, both now standard rather than optional. Buyers who want more can add the Premium Lighting Group, which swaps in LED headlights, taillights and fog lights, or the Driver Assist Package, which brings a 360-degree camera and a universal garage door opener to the same three trims. Neither package carries a published price in Jeep’s announcement, so buyers comparing the total cost of a loaded Compass against a rival SUV will need to confirm the figure with a dealer before ordering.

Prices Start at $31,985, and the Off-Road Trim Costs Less to Reach

Jeep has orders open now for the 2027 Compass, with pricing starting at $31,985 including the $1,995 destination charge, a figure most competitors list separately rather than folding into the headline number. The lineup runs from the base Latitude through Latitude Altitude, Limited and Limited Altitude, topping out with the off-road-focused Trailhawk.

The Limited Altitude is worth a second look for buyers drawn to the Trailhawk’s look but not its full off-road hardware. It now costs just $995 more than the standard Limited, a smaller premium than before, for a sportier-looking, quicker-steering version of the same SUV with gloss-black exterior trim and darker wheels. That gap gives shoppers a cheap way to get a different look and a sharper steering feel without stepping all the way up to the Trailhawk’s price.

Twenty Years of the Same Job: Jeep’s Entry Point

The Compass marks its 20th anniversary with the 2027 model year, and Jeep has kept its role unchanged the entire time: the smallest, cheapest way into the brand’s SUV lineup, built to carry the Jeep badge’s 4×4 reputation down to a price point buyers can actually afford. Every 2027 Compass runs the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rated at a best-in-segment 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque among small SUVs with a standard engine, and Jeep says maximum towing capacity is unmatched in the class as well.

The Trailhawk trim keeps its genuine off-road claim: a class-exclusive two-speed power transfer unit and the full Trail Rated badge, which Jeep only applies to vehicles that pass a fixed set of off-road tests covering traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording. That badge separates the Trailhawk from rivals such as the Honda HR-V or Chevrolet Trailblazer, neither of which claims the same level of off-pavement capability from the factory.

All-wheel drive is available across the lineup, and every 2027 Compass pairs its turbo four-cylinder with the same eight-speed automatic transmission Jeep has used in the model for several years running. That consistency cuts both ways for buyers: nothing about the driving experience changes for 2027, so shoppers who drove a 2026 Compass and liked it can expect the same behavior behind the wheel, while anyone hoping for a quicker drivetrain or better fuel economy this year will not find one.

The small SUV segment the Compass competes in has gotten crowded, with the Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Hyundai Kona and Mazda CX-30 all fighting over buyers who want a compact crossover under $35,000. Jeep’s answer is less about beating those rivals on price and more about offering genuine 4×4 capability through the Trailhawk trim, a feature most of that competitive set simply does not sell at any price.

New Colors Arrive Later, Built in Mexico

Jeep is adding four new exterior colors to the Compass palette for 2027: Ghost, Copper Shino, ’41 and Goldilocks, though all four carry late availability and will not be on dealer lots at launch. Buyers who cannot wait can choose from seven carryover colors including Diamond Black, Bright White and Red Hot. The 2027 Compass is built at Jeep’s Toluca, Mexico, assembly plant, the same facility that has produced the model throughout its run.

2027 Jeep Compass

None of the 2027 changes amount to a redesign, and Jeep is not pretending otherwise. What the Compass gets instead is a handful of features that were worth paying for last year and now come free, plus a cheaper path to the sportier-looking trim, which for a shopper cross-checking small SUVs against a fixed budget is often the difference that actually decides a purchase.
