KGM Musso Rhino Pickup Launches in UK From £38,995 With 3.5-Tonne Towing

KGM Motors UK, the brand formerly known as SsangYong, has launched an all-new version of its Musso pickup, split into two trims called Musso Rhino and Musso Rhino+. Both are on sale now through KGM dealers, with prices starting at £38,995 excluding VAT for the Rhino and £39,995 excluding VAT for the Rhino+. Buyers get a working truck rated to tow 3.5 tonnes and carry up to 1,200kg, wrapped in a far plusher cabin than the outgoing model offered.

The new Musso sits above the existing Rebel and Saracen versions in the range. It keeps the Musso name, which is Korean for rhinoceros, and leans into that with a bolder front end, a wider stance and a set of styling tweaks meant to give the truck more presence on the road and on a site.

Towing and Payload Numbers That Matter to Buyers

Both versions tow up to 3.5 tonnes, the figure most pickup buyers check first, and KGM backs that up with trailer sway control, a rear-view camera, Clear Sight View and a 360-degree 3D surround view monitor. The Rhino carries a payload of 1,090kg, while the Rhino+ lifts that to 1,200kg. The Rhino+ also posts a combined vehicle-and-trailer rating of 6,900kg, which KGM says leads its class and lets owners haul a heavy trailer while still carrying a full load in the bed.

Power comes from KGM’s 2.2-litre e-XDi diesel, producing 202PS at 3,800rpm and 400Nm of torque from 1,400 to 2,800rpm. An Aisin six-speed automatic sends drive through a selectable four-wheel-drive system with high and low range, so drivers can pick between two-wheel drive, four-wheel-drive high and four-wheel-drive low depending on conditions. Hill start assist, hill descent control and a locking differential help the truck claw back grip on mud, snow and loose ground.

The Load Bed Grows Bigger

Practicality has always been the Musso’s strong suit, and KGM says the new load bed swallows a full Euro-pallet. The Rhino offers 1,011 litres of bed capacity, while the Rhino+ stretches to 1,262 litres, which KGM claims is the largest pickup bed on sale measured by volume. Bed length runs to 1,300mm on the Rhino and 1,610mm on the Rhino+, with both sharing a 1,570mm width and 570mm depth.

Every Musso comes with a load bed liner, eight lashing hooks, a wide-opening tailgate, an LED bed lamp and rear bumper corner steps to make climbing up to the cargo area easier. Ground clearance sits at 245mm on the Rhino and 248mm on the Rhino+, with approach and departure angles that back up the off-road claims.

A Cabin That Feels More SUV Than Workhorse

The biggest step forward is inside. KGM has fitted Nappa leather seats, power-adjustable front seats that both heat and cool, heated rear seats and dual-zone climate control with new dial controls and rear air vents. The dashboard carries a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster next to a 12.3-inch touchscreen running TomTom sat-nav, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging and rear USB-C ports.

Safety kit runs deep for the money. The Musso uses high-strength-steel construction over an ultra-rigid chassis, plus door impact beams and six airbags. Driver aids include lane keeping assist, lane change warning, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, safety exit warning and adaptive cruise control, alongside the usual stability and braking systems.

Kevin Griffin, Managing Director at KGM Motors UK, said the new Musso aims to serve several types of buyer at once. “Musso is a name with real strength and great value in the pick-up sector, and the all-new Musso Rhino and Rhino+ represent a major step forward for the brand. These models bring together the durability and work-ready capability customers expect from KGM, while adding a more confident design, a significantly upgraded cabin and the latest convenience and safety technology.”

He added: “For business users, rural customers and lifestyle drivers alike, Musso Rhino and Rhino+ deliver a compelling balance of strength, comfort and value. With 3.5-tonne towing, payloads of up to 1,200kg and a highly specified interior, this is the next chapter for Korea’s original pick-up, built for customers who need a vehicle that works hard every day while still feeling refined and capable on every journey.”

Price, Colours and Warranty

The Musso Rhino starts at £38,995 excluding VAT and the Rhino+ at £39,995 excluding VAT, both available to order now. That pitches the pair against established rivals such as the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max and Volkswagen Amarok, though KGM has long undercut those names on price while matching the 3.5-tonne towing figure buyers want.

Buyers can choose from Space Black, Marble Grey, Amazon Green, Marine Blue, Smoke Taupe and Grand White. Every Musso Rhino and Rhino+ comes with KGM’s five-year or 100,000-mile warranty, a package that has become one of the brand’s main draws as it rebuilds under the KGM name and grows its dealer network across the UK.
