Kia America has revealed the 2023 EV6 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year Limited Edition – (breathes) yes, that’s what it’s called – at Monterey Car Week.

Limited to just 1000 units in the US, the limited-edition EV6 commemorates the electric crossover’s title of Utility Vehicle of the Year in the 2023 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year competition in January.

Finished in “model-exclusive” Deep Forest Green over Desert Beige, Kia America says the limited-edition EV6’s colour scheme “pays homage to classic performance vehicle styling combinations”.

In addition to the unique exterior and interior colourway, the EV6 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year Limited Edition also features a special plaque on the centre console, complete with authentic NACTOY medallions.

The EV6 LE combines features from the US-spec Wind and GT-Line specifications.

The blacked-out exterior accents – namely the wheel arch mouldings, side sills, as well as the front and rear fascias – are from the EV6 Wind, while the GT-Line’s 20-inch alloy wheels, sunroof, augmented reality head-up display, Surround View Monitor (360 cameras), Blind-Spot View Monitor as well as heated, flat-bottom steering wheel and rear seats all feature.

Power in the special EV6 comes from the 239kW/605Nm dual-motor all-wheel drive drivetrain which incorporates a 74kW front motor and 165kW rear motor, fed by a 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

Pricing and specification details for the US market will be available closer to the special edition’s launch later this year.

CarExpert has reached out to Kia Australia regarding local prospects of an extended range of colour and trim options for the local EV6 line-up and is awaiting a response.

The Kia EV6 is currently on sale in Australia across three distinct trim levels – Air, GT-Line and GT.

After being hamstrung by limited supply at launch, Kia’s local division recently confirmed it has managed to slash delivery times from around 12 months to 2-3 months thanks to improved factory supply. Buyers could nab a vehicle even sooner if a dealer has an EV6 in stock.

Kia Australia told CarExpert in January that it forecast up to 2500 EV6 units would be secured for the Australian market despite supply challenges at the time, and it appears that figure could continue to increase should there be enough demand.

Tell us which colour and trim combinations you’d like to see the EV6 offer in Australia!
