Polestar 2 honoured with Wallpaper* magazine Smart Space award for Best Sustainable Step Forward for Mobility
Polestar has today announced that the Polestar 2 has been awarded the prestigious Wallpaper* Smart Space Award in the category of ‘Best Sustainable Step Forward for Mobility’. This recognition underscores Polestar’s commitment to design, innovation, and sustainability in the automotive industry.
The Polestar 2 was judged on its excellence in innovation, design, impact, scalability, feasibility, and measurable outcomes. Notably, the car stood out not just for the quality of its design, but for Polestar’s pioneering efforts in creating transparency around the complexities of decarbonising supply chains and manufacturing processes. This accolade highlights Polestar’s dedication to addressing the broader challenges of sustainability in the automotive sector.
Polestar’s Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) reports take bold steps for the automotive industry to be transparent about the carbon impact of its cars allowing customers to make an informed choice. Transparency in this way drives improvement which has resulted in a three tonne CO2e saving in the past three years for Polestar 2 in the production phase.
“Being recognised by Wallpaper* Magazine for our advancements within sustainability is a tremendous honour,” said Fredrika Klarén, Head of Sustainability at Polestar. “Since launch in 2020, the cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of Polestar 2 has been reduced by three tonnes in three years and this award reflects our progress, inspiring us to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the automotive industry.
“We are especially proud of our focus on our transparency, demonstrating that it is possible to create beautiful, high-performance vehicles while also making significant strides toward sustainability.”
