The GV60 Magma stands as a bold testament to Genesis’ transformation into a luxury high performance marque. It sets a new standard by combining the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design philosophy with exhilarating performance capabilities, setting new standards in the electric vehicle (EV) landscape.

“In a very short period of time, our engineers achieved something truly remarkable,” said Manfred Harrer, President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D Division. “They created a car that is not only fast, but truly Genesis; a car that inspires confidence and provides a true emotional connection.”

The capabilities of the two motors of the GV60 Magma combined create the most powerful Genesis ever.

Extensive enhancements to the powertrain, including upgraded electric motors and refined rotor speed development enable the GV60 Magma to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.4 seconds and from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour in just 10.9 seconds — offering the most powerful performance within the Genesis lineup. Its front and rear motors generate a maximum speed of 20,920 rotations per minute delivering 790 Newton-meters of torque, a peak output of 650 PS (641 horsepower) and a top speed of 264 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest EV Genesis has ever made.

This remarkable performance isn’t just about hardware; Genesis has also introduced advanced software refinements. The GV60 Magma employs next-generation two-stage motor control, overcoming the high-speed power limitations typically found in conventional EVs. Boost Mode gives the driver up to 15 seconds of maximum output, unleashing even more torque and power even at high speeds.

Boost Mode in the Genesis GV60 Magma lasts for 15 seconds, compared to the 10 seconds in the GV60, and generates increased output and torque during that time.

Luxury and Driving Dynamics in Perfect Harmony

The GV60 Magma also offers precision-tuned driving dynamics tailored for any situation. The vehicle features five distinct drive modes: Range, Comfort, Sport and the Magma-exclusive Sprint and GT modes.

  • Range Mode prioritizes efficiency and maximizes driving range with seamless responsiveness.
  • Comfort Mode strikes a balance between performance and fuel economy for everyday use.
  • Sport Mode quickens responsiveness, offering a spirited driving experience for routine journeys.
  • Sprint Mode unleashes aggressive torque and accelerator sensitivity ideal for track settings.
  • GT Mode delivers the performance of a luxury grand tourer, blending effortless cruising with commanding acceleration when needed.

The feel of the accelerator pedal has been optimized overall and changes based on the drive mode.

Innovative Pedal Response for Enhanced Control

A key element in delivering this dynamic range is the specially configured accelerator pedal. “The pedal resistance was increased across all ranges to enhance control over acceleration,” said Taejun Kang, Senior Research Engineer of the Genesis EV Performance Test Team. Resistance has been adjusted to elevate control and reduce fatigue, offering lower resistance in light pedal applications for daily driving and greater resistance for high-depression inputs during sporty maneuvers. This ensures a smooth and intuitive connection between the driver and the vehicle’s subtle power.
