The enhanced Audi e-tron GT series – UK pricing announced

Captivating design, innovative technology, and engaging dynamics benefit from further refinement and evolution in the latest Audi e-tron GT models, which are available to order in the UK today and priced from £107,730 (OTR). Deliveries of the first customer vehicles are scheduled for later in the summer.

Enhancements to styling, driving range, performance, charging, and handling make their presence evident and emphatically felt in the electrified four-door coupe in a restructured line-up of three variants: S e-tron GT, RS e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT performance. The latter brings the ‘performance’ classification from the top-performing RS and R8 models in the Audi Sport range to the e-tron model family for the first time, and validates it with the help of a 925PS output that ranks as the highest ever offered by a series production Audi model.

New line-up, new look
Each version in the new e‑tron GT series has a distinct look which subtly develops and refines the e‑tron design language. In the S e-tron GT, which is available in either standard S trim or even more generously appointed S Vorsprung forms, a new grille with a three-dimensional appearance flanked by more pronounced airflow-optimising ‘curtains’ elevates the front end, while the rear view is embellished by a new aerodynamic diffuser with vertical fins. A black styling package also helps to lend a more sporting air.

The four rings are newly rendered in line with the latest Audi corporate identity at the front and rear, and the specific model designation is now displayed on the B-pillar. A new 20-inch multi-spoke wheel design complements the changes in S e-tron GT models, while the S e-tron GT Vorsprung steps up to a 21-inch aero wheel complemented by red brake calipers.

Audi RS: Inspired by motorsport
The latest RS e-tron GT adopts an even more purposeful stance that clearly distinguishes it as a model worthy of Audi Sport’s venerable RS badge. Its frontal treatment, incorporating the high-performance division’s trademark 3D honeycomb grille structure, is considerably more dramatic. The rear end draws inspiration from motorsport with its streamlined diffuser featuring inset L-shaped aero channels and a centrally mounted vertical red reflector. Front and rear Audi rings in black also intensify the visual drama.

The updated RS e-tron GT is joined in the UK by RS Carbon Black and RS Carbon Vorsprung variants. All three feature 21-inch wheels, with a new six-double-spoke, diamond-turned design for RS Carbon Black and RS Carbon Vorsprung versions. These versions are also marked out by a gloss carbon styling package, carbon mirrors and a carbon roof.

The RS e-tron GT performance – the first fully electric RS performance model – shares the RS e-tron GT’s extensive standard specification, but adds ceramic brakes with calipers finished in anthracite. Like its counterpart, it is available with RS Carbon Black and RS Carbon Vorsprung specification options, and it conveys its special status more distinctly in these two trim levels through a particularly striking roof treatment with a darkened, matte-effect carbon finish and unique and exclusive ‘carbon camouflage’ elements. These feature externally in the embossed bumper structures, the door inserts, parts of the diffuser and the side mirrors, and in the cabin in the door and dashboard inlays and the front and rear door sill trims, which are also illuminated.

More comfortable, more sustainable
The new interior accents are among the carefully considered updates that create an even more exceptional driving environment for occupants of the new e-tron GT models. In the S e-tron GT, upgraded sports seats plus with 14-way electric adjustment and illuminated logos position the driver perfectly in relation to the new heated steering wheel with its flattened top and bottom. Their upholstery combines the sustainable microfibre material Dinamica, made using a high proportion of recycled polyester, with artificial leather. Depending on the version, Dinamica also features in varying quantities in the steering wheel trim, the hood above the virtual cockpit, the centre console, and the headlining. Econyl, a material consisting of 100 percent recycled nylon fibres from production waste, fabric and carpet scraps, or old fishing nets, is also used for the carpeting and floor mats.

A new, enhanced version of the Audi virtual cockpit provides the driver with comprehensive battery and charging status information for the first time. It forms part of an appropriately sophisticated suite of digital and connectivity technology, including an array of internet-based Audi Connect services and an app store accessible via the Audi wireless smartphone interface.

Gains in standard equipment are significant from the outset, with a Bang & Olufsen Premium 3D Sound System, a head-up display, and several new driver assistance features joining the list for the S e-tron GT as part of its upgrade. One particular highlight is an innovative new panoramic glass roof featuring smart glass that minimises direct sunlight and turns opaque at the touch of a button. The innovative roof has nine different segments, which can be independently controlled via the Audi MMI system to suit the occupant’s needs. It is available as part of the Technology Pack Pro (£5,495) on the S e-tron GT and is standard on the S e-tron GT Vorsprung. On all RS e-tron GT variants, it is available as a single option (£3,175).

The equipment list for the various RS e-tron GT models expands on the S e-tron GT’s already extensive quota with everything from fine Nappa leather upholstery to a seat massage function, and from an RS-specific Audi virtual cockpit to a night vision assistant. It also raises the tone with new inlay finishes and detailing in Vanadium, an anthracite-coloured material that appears differently depending on the light that falls on it.

Higher performance, lower weight
All three new e-tron GT derivatives are powered by two electric motors using 800-volt technology, one mounted on each axle, and are not only more efficient than their predecessors but also bring significant increases in power and improved acceleration. A particularly notable contributor to these gains is their new, lighter, and more powerful rear motor.

At the entry point to the series, the S e-tron GT delivers a maximum combined output of 680PS (500kW), and a 0-62mph sprint time of 3.4 seconds with launch control. The updated RS e-tron GT, with peak power increased to 856PS (630kW), cuts the acceleration time to 2.8 seconds with launch control, while the new RS e-tron GT performance sets a new precedent with 925PS (680kW) and the potential to cover 0-62mph in a mere 2.5 seconds with launch control. The S e-tron GT reaches a top speed of 152mph, and the RS models are limited to a 155mph maximum.

The lighter rear motor is complemented by an upgraded high-voltage battery offering the dual benefits of reduced weight and increased energy density. Its gross storage capacity has been boosted to 105 kWh (97 kWh net), facilitating a maximum driving range of up to 374 miles (depending on version).

Elevated charging power
Charging power has also increased to 320kW, meaning the e-tron GT can replenish 80 percent of its reserves (from a 10 percent base) in just 18 minutes at a high-power charging (HPC) station, and can regain a range of up to 174 miles in as little as 10 minutes. Improvements to the predictive thermal management and regenerative braking systems have also brought further gains in charging efficiency and energy recuperation.

Suspension upgrades across the line-up
Adaptive air suspension not only becomes a standard feature for all variants but has also been extensively redeveloped using 2-chamber/2-valve technology, bringing significant advantages in driving dynamics without compromising on comfort.

S e-tron GT Vorsprung and RS e-tron GT Vorsprung models are equipped with an even more sophisticated set-up known as active suspension. During everyday driving, it almost entirely neutralises body vibrations on poor road surfaces, and via the Audi drive select system offers settings that effectively compensate for pitch and roll, maximising comfort for occupants.

During braking, steering, and acceleration on more challenging roads, it keeps the coupe’s body on a near-horizontal plane, resulting in highly precise steering response, optimised grip and greater overall driver control. It also brings benefits when at a standstill, with a comfort entry feature that can raise the body by 55 to 77mm to make entry easier.

Steering ratio modifications have further improved response in all versions of the latest e-tron GT, and in S e-tron GT Vorsprung models and above all-wheel steering is standard. This reduces the steering effort required during low-speed manoeuvres and increases stability at higher speeds. Control in all conditions is also further enhanced across the range by quattro all-wheel drive with e-torque vectoring.
