Subaru has priced the 2027 Trailseeker electric SUV from $39,995, matching the starting figure of the model it replaces. With most electric SUVs pushing well past $40,000, that flat price gives Subaru’s second EV a foothold under a number plenty of American shoppers treat as a ceiling.

The Trailseeker reaches US retailers later this fall in three trims: Premium, Limited and Touring. Every version runs standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a 74.7-kWh battery, and the entry Premium covers up to 281 miles on a full charge.

Pricing Holds Across the Range

The Premium opens the lineup at $39,995. The Limited moves up to $43,995, and the Touring tops it at $46,555. Subaru held all three figures level with the outgoing car, a rare move in a market where EV prices have mostly climbed. Buyers can pick from six paint colors, with Daybreak Blue Pearl adding $395. Subaru assembles the Trailseeker in Japan.

Standard kit on the Premium already covers most daily needs: a 14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, EyeSight driver assist, heated front seats, a power rear gate, dual wireless charging pads and 18-inch alloy wheels. That leaves the two pricier trims to add comfort and technology rather than fill gaps.

The Quickest Subaru Ever Sold in America

With 375 horsepower on tap, the Trailseeker runs from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Subaru calls it the quickest production model it has ever sold in the United States, quicker than any WRX or BRZ the brand has put on sale. The instant response of an electric motor does most of the work, and the all-wheel-drive hardware keeps that power usable.

Acceleration sensors at the front and rear read how the body loads up under braking, cornering and hard starts, then shuffle torque to the wheels that can put it down. Subaru also retuned the system for the electric powertrain, adding a variable torque split for the regenerative braking and spreading power front to rear and side to side.

Charging and Cold-Weather Range

The 74.7-kWh battery feeds a standard North American Charging Standard port, which opens access to more than 25,000 charging stations across the continent, including Tesla Superchargers. On a 150-kW DC fast charger, Subaru quotes a 10 to 80 percent top-up in as little as 28 minutes.

Cold weather usually saps charging speed, so Subaru fitted a battery preconditioning system. Drivers can warm the pack by setting a charging stop in the route or by tapping the touchscreen, and Subaru says the SUV then charges at close to normal speeds in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Rated range tracks the trim: the Premium comes in at about 281 miles, while the Limited and Touring each cover roughly 274 miles on their larger wheels.

Space, Towing and Trail Hardware

The Trailseeker gives up 31.3 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats, which Subaru says holds four large suitcases and roughly matches the gas Outback wagon. Standard roof rails carry a 700-pound static load, and the SUV tows up to 3,500 pounds. Next to the smaller Solterra, the Trailseeker runs more than six inches longer and nearly an inch taller, freeing up more room for passengers and gear.

Off the pavement, 8.5 inches of ground clearance and Subaru’s X-MODE Dual-Mode system, with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings plus Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control, handle loose surfaces. The cabin keeps a horizontal dashboard theme with metallic trim, a large center console and standard StarTex water-repellent upholstery, with leather offered on the Touring.

Which Trailseeker to Buy

The Limited, at $43,995, adds a digital key, a Harman Kardon stereo, a panoramic view monitor, 20-inch gloss-black wheels, heated rear seats, a heated leather-wrapped wheel, a hands-free power gate and a 120-volt outlet in the cargo area. The Touring, at $46,555, layers on a panoramic glass roof with a powered shade, ventilated front seats and radiant leg warmers. Touring buyers can add black-and-blue leather for $300, or two-tone Crystal White Pearl paint with leather for $795.

For most drivers the Premium makes the strongest case, pairing the longest range with the full safety kit at the lowest price. The Limited earns its step up if a better stereo and rear-seat heating rank high, and the Touring reads as the comfort flagship. Subaru dealers will stock all three later this fall.
