Mercedes-Benz EQS earns five-star ANCAP safety rating
The Mercedes-Benz EQS liftback is the latest electric vehicle (EV) to be awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating against the 2020-2022 testing protocols.
This result was drawn from testing conducted on the EQS by Euro NCAP, with which ANCAP has harmonised its testing protocols.
The five-star ANCAP rating only applies to the EQS 450 4Matic and not the high-performance AMG EQS 53 4Matic+, which remains unrated.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS scored 96 per cent for adult occupant protection, 93 per cent for child occupant protection, 76 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 80 per cent for safety assist.
ANCAP notes full points were awarded for the EQS’s adult occupant protection in both the side-impact and oblique-pole tests.
The driver and rear passenger protection in the full-width frontal test also scored full points, making the EQS the fourth vehicle to achieve this result under ANCAP’s 2020-2022 testing protocols.
