The Z Nismo is the most powerful – and most expensive – version of Nissan’s sports coupe line ever sold in Australia, and the first batch will be limited.

The 2024 Nissan Z Nismo will be the most expensive Nissan ‘Zed’ car ever sold in Australia – and likely more than six figures once on-road costs are included – when the first batch of just 100 cars arrives in Australia later this year.

Unveiled last week, the Z Nismo – the more powerful, sharper, wider and more track-focused but automatic-only version of the new Nissan Z – will be priced from $94,000 plus on-road costs.

It represents a premium of $18,200 over than the regular model – which receives a $2500 price rise for Model Year 2024 examples, to $75,800 plus on-roads – and is the highest list price ever applied to a Nissan Z-car in Australia.

The Z Nismo will be the second-most expensive vehicle sold by Nissan in Australia – pending confirmation of the circa-$95,000 price expected for the Nissan Patrol Warrior 4WD due later this year – behind the Patrol Ti-L large 4WD priced from $97,600 plus on-road costs.

The first “delivery run” (batch) of Nissan Z Nismo sports cars for Australia will be limited to just 100 examples.

Nissan Australia says customers already in the queue for a standard Nissan Z Coupe – or Z Proto special edition – will contacted by their dealer today “offered the opportunity to transfer their order to a Z Nismo.”

Any remaining vehicles from the initial 100 will open for orders on the Nissan Australia website at 11:00am AEST on Thursday 10 August.

“Remaining reservations [will] then [be] taken on a first come, first served basis and are subject to entering a sale contract with a Nissan dealer,” Nissan Australia says in its media release.

The company says these customers ordering online will be asked to select their preferred colour, nominate the dealer they wish to purchase the car from, and place a $1000 refundable deposit.

“Given the strictly limited vehicle numbers, payment of a reservation fee does not guarantee purchase of a vehicle and the fee is fully refundable prior to signing a contract of sale. Reservations are limited to one per customer, and third party resellers will not be eligible,” the Nissan Australia media release says.

Four colours will be available for the Nismo in Australia: Black Diamond Metallic, Brilliant Silver with a Super Black roof, Everest White with a Super Black Roof, and Stealth Gray with a Black roof. The red paint available in the US won’t be offered here.

Powering the Z Nismo is an uprated version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 developing 309kW and 520Nm, up 11kW and 45Nm to match the figures quoted in Japan.

The US model quotes higher outputs of 313kW and 521Nm, however these may be due to a different system of measuring power rather than a tweaked engine tune.

It is matched exclusively with a retuned nine-speed automatic transmission – no manual is available – driving the rear wheels.

Highlights of the Nismo include stiffer suspension with new anti-roll bars, wider yet lighter 19-inch Rays forged wheels, wider Dunlop tyres, a Sport+ drive mode, 25mm-larger front brake discs (but carry-over calipers and rear discs), and more aggressive exterior and interior styling.

Australian deliveries of the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo are due to commence in “late 2023”, pending any delays.
